Rory Galligan started the Neste Rally of Finland yesterday, with the intention of gaining experience at world championship level. The rally started well and Rory seemed to settle into the Astra quickly, setting 6th fastest time in his class on the first stage. He maintained this pace and by stage 5 he was 4th in class, 50 seconds down on the leading pair of Honda Integra's.

O’Donovan stars in Tipp but
local hero Meagher takes the win
Frank Meagher emerged as the winner of the eighth round of the Dunlop National Rally today when the local hero won the Clonmel based Tom Hogan Motors Stonethrowers Rally by eight seconds from early rally leader Donal O’Dovonan.
Driving his Eircom.net Toyota Celica, O’Donovan took the rally lead on the third stage when he set the first of three consecutive fastest stage times but a massive last minute charge by Meagher turned the table on the West Cork driver. Meagher going 36 seconds fastest over the final two stages.

Simon Mauger has been crowned the inaugural Ford Racing Puma Rally Champion having won the fourth round of the Ford Racing Puma Rally Championship, the Silverstone Rallysprint in a convincing fashion. Simon has dominated this years Championship taking three wins and a second place on the last four rounds, a total that cannot be beaten.

HOGAN WINS KILLARNEY AUTOCROSS
Cathal Hogan from Balinasloe took the laurels on both days of the Killarney and District Motor Club National Autocross, which was held on the Saturday and Sunday of the August Bank Holiday Weekend. Hogan was followed closely by Championship sponsor Gordon Percy, with Ian Byrne finishing third on Saturday, and Richard Percy third on Sunday. Ger Brennan in his Fiesta Cosworth was the top saloon driver which will help in his quest for another Nationl title.

Motorsports Club Autocross on Sunday in a TTI Toyota Celica GT4. Niall
blasted away the rest of the field in an amazing display of car control
to take overall victory in the Duprint Ltd sponsored Autocross, held in
Murphy's Quarry, Gormanstown, Co. Meath. Niall used the event as a test
session for a future gravel rally in Wales, which he will compete in
