Rory Galligan started the Neste Rally of Finland yesterday, with the intention of gaining experience at world championship level. The rally started well and Rory seemed to settle into the Astra quickly, setting 6th fastest time in his class on the first stage. He maintained this pace and by stage 5 he was 4th in class, 50 seconds down on the leading pair of Honda Integra's.

However on stage 7 Rory's rally came to an abrupt end, on a corner where the surface changed from hard and clean to rough, rutted gravel. The rear of the car dug in badly into a rut throwing the car off line and into a tree, putting them out of the rally.
Despite the shortness of his rally, Rory again showed his sheer speed against a field of top class competitors and gained valuable experience at the highest level. He is now looking forward to round 7 of the Peugeot Super 106 Cup, the Tour of Flanders in September.
