O' DONOVAN GOES DUTCH

This weekend sees the beginning of Ollie O’ Donovan’s assault on the Dutch Open Championship with the Zuiderzee Rally based in Emmeloord, north of Amsterdam. The 18 stage 480km event begins on Friday night at 21.46 with 5 stages in darkness finishing shortly after midnight. The crews then tackle the remaining 13 stages Saturday beginning at 10am and finishing at 23.15.

Motorsport Ireland in conjunction with Cavan Motor Club, are staging an evening to promote Safety within our sport, which should ultimately help preserve our Rallying culture in this Country.

Foley Confirms Entry for Evo Challenge

John Foley, the Fisher Foundation Award winner has confirmed his entry into the Evo Challenge, the first round being the Sunseeker Rally 27th-28th of February. John along with his navigator Jonathan Waterman have put a deal together with their long term sponsor ASA Marketing and John O’Leary of O’Leary Motorsport to compete in an Evo VI for the opening round.

Tommy Flanagan finished a fine 2nd in class in last weekends Galway National Rally. Despite a fifteen-year break, Tommy, soon overcame the rustiness he felt was present on the first few stages to settle in nicely posting a string of second fastest class stage times. Keith Flanagan on his first rally was not fazed by the various demands on him and delivered an excellent performance to net the result.

Dungannon Motor Club Ltd. will once again run their Rally navigation school, which has proved such a success over the past few years. The Classes will be held one night per week in Dungannon Rugby Club, running for six weeks starting 7.30 p.m. Wednesday 21st. January 2004.

The Carlow Motor club Rally Sprint took place at the Mondello Race Course on the 28th of December 2003. The event proved very popular amongst rally enthusiasts – evident in the large number of starting competitors which totalled a whopping - 192 drivers, not to mention the huge crowds that turned out to watch and support the event.
