The cancellation of the Ulster rally has resulted in the first four rounds of the 2001 Toshiba Computers Irish Tarmac Rally Championship being lost from the original intended programme of events.

In view of this it has been decided with the agreement of Toshiba that this years Championship should now be cancelled.

Alan Thompson, Managing Director, Toshiba Computers has announced an increased package of support for the 2001 Irish Tarmac Rally Championships. "We are extremely pleased to be continuing our involvement with the Irish Tarmac Rally Championships and with the recent influx of World Rally Cars to Ireland we are certainly anticipating a very competitive season next year".

STATEMENT FROM RALLIES COMMITTEE
The Rallies Committee of Motorsport Ireland at a meeting held on Wednesday 12th July 2000, gave consideration to a request from the Tarmac Rally Organisers Association (TROA) for approval for a change to the regulations of the Toshiba Computers Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.

The TROA sought approval for their decision to run a "Toshiba Computers Irish Tarmac Challenge" as part of the Manx Trophy event on the 7th to 9th September 2000.

Following the cancellation of the Galway Motorclubs West 2000 event in July the Irish Tarmac Rally Organisers Association (TROA) have reviewed the calendar for the remainder of the year and now propose to run a special Toshiba Computers Irish Tarmac Challenge in conjunction with the Manx Rally 7-9 September.
