Qatar's Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah and Ulster co-driver Chris Patterson clinched victory in Rally Oman 2005 and extended their FIA Middle East Rally Championship lead to six points after 14 timed special stages in the Hajar mountains of the Sultanate of Oman, today (Friday).

Qatar's Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah and Ulster co-driver Chris Patterson took a third successive victory in the Mitsubishi Qatar International Rally, round four of the 2005 FIA Middle East Rally Championship, after 10 timed special stages in the boulder-strewn deserts around Doha this weekend. They now hold a 16-point lead in the FIA regional series with five events to run.

Age limit for Grass Autocross Reduced

The Motor Sport Commission has approved a reduction in the age at which a Speed licence valid for Autocross (grass surface only) may be issued. With immediate effect, drivers aged 14 or 15 may drive Saloon cars up to 1400 cc, with two wheel drive only, in these events.

  • Sainz to Drive for Citroen in Turkey
Double world champion Carlos Sainz will make a shock return to the World Rally Championship with the Citroen team for a one-off drive on next month's Rally of Turkey. The Spaniard, who retired at the end of last year, will replace Francois Duval, whose position has been under pressure after a string of disappointing results.
