106 Cup - Round 4 - Red Dragon Rally - 3 June '00
by Claire Walsh
The Red Dragon Rally in Port Talbot, South Wales was the setting for round 4 of the Peugeot Super 106 Cup. Rory Galligan was hoping to put the disappointment of his last two non finishes behind him and get his championship challenge back on track. However Rory was again plagued with bad luck. Eight miles into the first stage gear linkage problems left the car stuck in 5th gear. Rory continued, having to slip the clutch to get around tight corners and hairpins. Close to the end of the stage the engine cut out, leaving the crew to push the car to the stage finish and into service.

Carlisle City Challenge by Jonty Bolsover (Co-driver to Rory Galligan)

Everyone had put the fear of God in Rory about just how nasty a place Kielder Forest really is. The first 22 mile stage in the mighty complex saw Rory driving very, very gingerly indeed, setting a time only good enough for 10th in the Peugeot Super 106 Championship.
At service in Hexham, he received a pep talk from team manager, Tom Walsh, and off we went to a 17 mile stage in Falstone........
