Derek Daly in the Killarney Autos Ford KA from Killarney, Co. Kerry put in a gritty and determined drive to secure his fourth win of the 1999 Ford KA Rally Championship in the Galway Summer Rally based in Portumna today.

A new era has dawned on forestry rallying with the introduction of
Safety Notes this year and some television coverage guaranteed, The new
Forest Rally Sub-Committee are aiming to broaden the appeal of the
Championship attracting some new competitors. The format for this years
championship starts the competitors in Cork and finishes in Carrick on
Suir with a total of seven rounds.

Cathal Hogan from Ballinasloe took the honours on both Saturday and Sunday in the Galway Motor Club rounds of the Gordon Percy Engine Centre National Autocross championship at Ballinasloe on Saturday and Sunday, August 14th/15th, 1999. The event was supported by Mike O'Boyle's M J Systems, Galway and attracted 43 starters.

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH DALY GETS GOING -

CLONMEL 8TH AUGUST 1999 -. Derek Daly from Killarney, Co. Kerry has won
the fifth round of the Ford KA Rally Championship at the Stonethrowers
Rally in Clonmel. Derek produced one of his best drives of the season to
secure the win when it really mattered. Derek started the event under
great pressure, as he needed a win to keep his Championship hopes alive.
