So after 2 days of hard rallying in near perfect weather the man from Banbridge won the Quality Hotels West Cork Rally 2003 in convincing style. Kenny arrived into the final service on Sunday in a cloud of smoke which was apparently coming from the gearbox. He was concerned about the unit but hoped that any problem could be fixed during the service period. Clearly all fears he had faded when he posted fastest time on the last two stages of the Rally. A relieved Kenny arrived at the finish ramp in Clonakilty town centre to a warm reception from the crowd who made their way back from the stages to greet the winner. He said that it was a 'super rally' with ' brilliant stages'.

Irish Rally driver Shaun Gallagher begins his assault on the 2003 British Peugeot 206 Super Cup when he competes in round 1, the Border Counties Rally this Saturday the 22nd March. The Rally is a round of the New Pig Scottish Rally Championship. This event in run in the famous Kielder Forest and consists of forty-five stage miles over six stages.

Jennings to Contest Border Counties Rally

Peugeot Sports Official Works driver Garry Jennings will contest the Border Counties Rally next weekend in Scotland. After the Rally of Wales was cancelled an alternative event was sought in order for Jennings to put more miles on his 206 Super 1600 in preparation for the demanding Pirelli Rally in April, now the 1st round of the 2003 British Rally Championship.

IRISH RALLY TEAM TACKLE 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS

2002 was an outstanding year for Ireland's young rally star Shaun Gallagher. He finished 2nd in the Peugeot 206 Super Cup, won the Motorsport Ireland Billy Coleman Award and was presented with no less than five top awards by Peugeot Sport. 2003 is shaping up to be even better for this young driver. The Irish team will compete in no less than three top championships, the French Peugeot 206 Cup (Volant 206), the British Peugeot 206 Super Cup and the Norwegian National Championship.

DONNELLY STORMS TO VICTORY IN THE MAYO STAGES RALLY
Unsettled conditions greeted the 131 starters of last Sunday's Downhill House Hotel Mayo Stages, which opened the new season. Thankfully the roads dried out somewhat for the first cars on this years Mayo Stages Rally. Former Donegal International winner, James Cullen, was driving one of the O cars, in a Honda Civic, and he thought that the drivers who fitted slick tyres were brave and would score the fastest times. Eugene Donnelly overcame the conditions and the strong opposition to take the first major prize of the year.
