Posted: February 27, 2014 3:02 PM
Midland Motor club'ss last navigation trial of the year took place on Sat night last the 24th of November. The event was both a counting round of the Squealing Pig Border Navigation Championship and the last round of our own Midland Motor Club members championship. COC for the event was Colin Duffy.
32 crews assembled at the Community Centre, Drumlish which proved to be well situated for competitors from all surrounding counties. The first car was away at 9pm and all crews then followed on to what was going to prove a very difficult test of both navigator and drivers alike. The 95 mile route took place around counties Roscommon, Leitrim and Longford. Conditions started off wet for the early sections, then later fog added to the challenge for all competitors. On return to HQ the results were swiftly calculated by Cora McGuire from Monaghan Motor Club and the winners were announced as follows: 1st overall Andrew Mackarel / Liam Higgins, 1st expert Joe Shinnors / Greg Shinnors,1st Semi Expert Pakie Duffy/Nigel McCloughry, 1st Novice Arthur Kierans / Mac Kierans, 1st Beginner Gerry Kelly / Seamus McTigue.
