IRCA JUNIOR & HISTORIC CO-ORDINATORS

The Irish Rally Competitors Association is delighted to announce the formation of specialist Junior & Historic branches. The main objective of these is to help and encourage competitors in these classes with any assistance they need or issues they may have. Each branch will have specific and specialised co-ordinators who will concentrate solely on their own field and therefore offer a more specialised service.

Historic Coordinators
Galway’s Ray Cunningham and Tralee’s Tommy Commane will take up this position. Ray has been competing since the 1980’s and can be seen regularly campaigning his red Mini Cooper around the stages of Ireland, he also runs a business based around minis which have won the historic rally championship 4 times. Tommy who can be normally seen looking out the passenger side of the rally car has competed regular in both historic & post historic cars and along with Ray brings vast knowledge to the role

. Junior Coordinator
s Clonakilty native Gavin Walsh will fill this role. Gavin, in his Honda Civic, has competed in many a junior rally since he started competing in 2005 and is really looking forward to bringing this experience to the new role.

The IRCA hope these appointment will be the start to a new progressive approach to their role witin Motorsport in Ireland and Speaking on the new announcements IRCA chairman Kevin Barrett said
"We are delighted to be moving forward with the new Junior and Historic coordinators. Both of these categories are hugely popular in the sport and the competitors we have now in these roles have a wealth of experience gained over the years to help with any issues that might arise "
