Black clouds did little to spoil a great win for the Youghal driver Jason Ryan, Jason who has not always had the best of luck took a well-deserved win today in his home build Kia Motors Youghal Starlet.
The day was mostly dry but the rain did make the difference ,over the first run Davy Armstrong in the 300 + bhp Escort was looking sharp and was a mere .9 of a second up on Jason after the first run , run two destroyed it for Armstrong when a fellow competitor took out the timing gear Armstrong had to get a rerun sadly for him this happened during the only big shower of rain during the day, the time lost here could never be made up and Armstrong while being quicker on 4 of the 5 runs was never going to be able to make up the 8 seconds he lost in the wet.
Keith Power in the super 1600 Clio was generally just marginally slower than Ryan and on the 4th run was even quicker but at the end of the day second by 2.4 seconds showed there was little in it.
Third was Armstrong and 4th was a great drive by Allen Treacy in the Corolla always the front running two wheel drive man from the (IMC ) Allen today was taking his neighbour Carmel for a spin he thought he was just a bit too sideways particularly when he had a bit of a moment on run 2 however he was more than happy with 4th place .
Brian O Keeffe was 5th he said from the start this track will suit a Civic or a Starlet "it's just too tight and twisty for my Subaru" and he was right however he enjoyed his run on his home club event.
The rest of the top 10 included Luke McCarthy and Paul Brown in Civics with Michael Ryan in his Fiesta ninth and another IMC member William Walsh 10th
The day belonged to the Youghal man Jason Ryan in the Kia Motors Youghal Starlet it was Jason's first outright win on an event however there was drama on the last run when as Jason pulled off the line some noticed the tyre looked a little soft Jason said I thought the car was a bit loose but I just kept driving it!
As he came back in to the pit area the tyre was almost flat a 2 inch piece of metal was pulled out of the tyre, Jason said we had our bit of luck today.
The IMC ran a great event and Clerk of the Coarse Emmet Cronin said thanks to its hard working members and the support of Kartmania.ie also thanks to today's competitors for a great days sport.

With more than a week to go the club has over 50 entries and the phones are hot with competitors enquiring about the event , early entries include top IMC club member Brian O Keeffe in the Subaru ,Brian winner of the last two Cork City rally sprints may find the tighter confines of the mart a tougher challenge however he will be one to watch when the times are made up , other quick escorts include Davy Armstrong and Fergus O Meara ,the sound of a Metro 6R4 is always a joy to the motor enthusiast Damien Brown brings his example.
Mike Deane brings the drift car (Nissan Silvia) expect sideways stuff here , after a superb 8th in the Killarney Rallysprint Owen Murphy brings the twin cam for another wild spin, here he will be challenged by the local twin cam drivers like Allen Treacy , James Cunningham and William Walsh also keep an eye out for Youghal man Jason Ryan who is always very quick in the Civic .
The club is extending the closing date for entries and would like to say to all competitors that may be travelling long distances that secure parking is available on the Saturday night at the event site.
The action is set to start at 11 o clock Sunday and there is a minimum of 3 timed runs .
