Armagh Tigers to run Classic Motoring Event, not to be missed !

Posted: March 15, 2009 10:33 AM

If you are a motor enthusiast and don't have any major plans for the May bank holiday weekend, the Armagh Tigers can promise you 3 days of the best motoring craic your are ever likely to have! The Tigers are launching their Apple Blossom Classic Fun Run which, running over 3 days from the 1st - 3rd May 2009, will cover approximately 700 miles. Although this new type of motoring event has technically some links with motorsport events, it is a much more laid back event, with light hearted fun being the emphasis of the weekends activities.

It is a non-timed, non-competitive event on open roads, with its base in Armagh and visiting different areas of Northern Ireland each day, as well as several short route sections in the south. Hidden treasures, brain teasers and specific stop-off points are just some of the challenges the competing teams will be confronted with, in order to score points along the way. There are no back up teams or support vehicles allowed, just your car and your crew, which can be up to four people.

The event is open to all types of vehicles, but it must be a MINIMUM OF 20 YEARS OF AGE e.g Classic Cars, Vintage Cars, Vans, and 4 x4's or just your regular old banger. Entry fee is only £200 for car and up to four members in each team. Giving your vehicle (and perhaps your crew!) a seriously flashy paint job is all part of the fun. Fancy Dress and all types of silly behaviour is encouraged. This will be a great opportunity to renew old motoring acquaintances and perhaps meet a few new "eejits" along the way.

There is a first overall prize of £1000, 2nd £500, 3rd £300 and a Spirit of the Event Award. All monies raised will be donated to local charities.

As well as the event itself, there will be a quiz (free admission to competitors),open to both competitors and the public, as well as an evenings entertainment of music, dance and story-telling at the Event Headquarters over the weekend.
