Stobart score with motorsport’s elite at Wembley

Posted: December 12, 2008 6:10 PM

Last week saw the highest ever global showcasing of Stobart Motorsport when Valentino Rossi drove for the team on Wales Rally GB generating masses of global media exposure. Now the brand has stepped things up a gear as it will be supplying two Stobart Ford Focus RS world rally cars which will be driven by the best of the best at this weekend’s Race of Champions at Wembley Stadium in England.

The line-up to jump behind the wheel of the dual FIA World Rally Championship winning Focus RSwill be a who’s who of motorsport champions. They will contest the ROC’s Nations Cup where eight nations are represented by two drivers competing for the title of “The Fastest Nation in the World” using an array of different machinery.

The ROC is the only opportunity for the world’s best drivers and riders from all motorsport disciplines to race in exactly the same cars and on a parallel track. The premise is simple: using identical equipment and track, drivers can prove themselves based on their talent alone and this year they will prove it in a fully liveried Stobart Focus RS WRC.

Disciplines represented include Formula 1, NASCAR, World Rally, Le Mans, X-Games, IRL, Champ Car, DTM, and European Touring Cars with GB, Ireland, Germany, USA, Australia, France and Scandinavian nations all involved.

Stobart Group CEO Andrew Tinkler said:
“It will be fantastic to see our Stobart sponsored cars competing in such a famous place as Wembley Stadium and with so many world motorsport superstars behind the wheel. After Rally GB last weekend, where MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi was driving for us, we have now got another high profile event to showcase the Stobart brand on a global scale. Malcolm Wilson and the M-Sport team have done a great job running our cars all season and now we have an opportunity to have some fun watching two Stobart cars racing each other round the track at the hands of motorsport superstars.”
