GSMC Single Stage Rally - 17 Dec 00

On Sunday the 17th of December, 2000, the Garda Siochana Motor Club will hold its first Single Stage Rally, based at Courtown, Co. Wexford (in conjunction with Wexford Motor Club). The GSMC has been in existance for over ten years now, but to date has only organised smaller events, such as Sporting Trials. However, the members have assisted other clubs with their rallies, and will now put into practice what they have learned from such occasions.

The Northeast Motorsports Club and Castle Automobile Club are
delighted to announce that regulations and entry forms are available for
the Triton Showers Northeast Single Stage Rally.
The rally is on November 5th and follows the usual single stage
format of a practice run and three timed runs over the 10 mile stage.
This rally is restricted to 2 wheel drive, normally aspirated cars.

Entries have closed for the inaugural running of this Single Stage Event
on November 5th. The event will cater for lesser experienced competitors
who have had difficulty in gaining entries on Multi-Stage Rallies.

Rory Galligan started the Neste Rally of Finland yesterday, with the intention of gaining experience at world championship level. The rally started well and Rory seemed to settle into the Astra quickly, setting 6th fastest time in his class on the first stage. He maintained this pace and by stage 5 he was 4th in class, 50 seconds down on the leading pair of Honda Integra's.

Mark Fisher, the 27 year old Ulsterman, along with his experienced
co-driver fellow Irishman Gordon Noble contested the Enterprise Rally last
weekend based in the Neath Valley forests. Despite some problems, they
completed the event in their left hand drive Group A Subaru Impreza in a
comfortable second place overall
RAVENS ROCK RALLY ON TG4

The recent Suirway Forklifts Ravens Rock Rally, which saw Michael Barrable end a two year victory drought, will be televised this Thursday the 13th of July @ 20:00 on TG4. The ½ hour problem will also feature action from the Ford Ka Rally Championship which took place on the Waterford event.

Mark Fisher and Gordon Noble, winners of the Super 106 Cup Championship in
1999, are absolutely gutted at the moment, as their prize drive on the
Acropolis Rally goes sour. Stage 3 saw their demise as they suffered a
catalogue of connected problems, eventually leading to no drive to exit
the stage. Even more upsetting is the news that after Stage 2, they had
moved up from their starting position of 40 to 18th overall.

MAYO CREWS CONTINUE GLORY TRAIL AT CAVAN RALLY

Round 5 of the Dunlop National Rally Championship, the Hotel Kilmore Cavan Stages Rally had seven Mayo & District Motorsport Club members taking part. Once again, the West of Ireland Club were among the prizewinners in the 9 Special Stage event held around Killashandra, Butlers Bridge and Cavan town.
