Statement: Red Kite Stages 2010 POSTPONED
Provisional New Date - 18 Apr 10

Posted: January 15, 2010 12:58 PM

"After discussions today with Forestry Commission District Manager in the Llandovery Office it was felt that if a thaw was to happen and the event ran on the 24th the forestry tracks would not hold up well to the usage of competitive cars due to the extreme cold weather that is being experienced in the Tirabad area and if it did not thaw, the majority of the route would not be passable in anything but a 4x4.

So after driving the road sections and stages today which was only possible in a 4x4 and taking into account the weather conditions as they are across the country with the 60 plus entries received to date, marshals, radio cars, officials, safety/rescue crews, and spectators coming from all over the country.

We have taken the decision to POSTPONE the rally and hopefully run on the 18th April 2010.

We thank you for your support and hope you can make it on the 18th April for The Red Kite Stages 2010.

We will update everyone as soon as possible."

Statement from the COC

"Due to the snow and ice, the special stages are currently inaccessible to all but 4x4 vehicles. However, the roadbook, stage setup diagrams, etc. were completed before this cold snap, which is predicted to end next weekend.

The decision whether to postpone the rally will be taken during the evening of Wednesday 20th January and a statement will be published.

Until then, the Organising Team are continuing with their preparations to run the rally."
