Trackrod Rally goes past 100 entries

Posted: September 6, 2019 1:09 PM

With three weeks to go until the start of the rally, more than 100 entries have now been placed for the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire (September 27/28).

The event organisers have taken more than 30 entries in the last week, with recent additions including leading historic contender Nick Elliott and rallying veteran Bob Bean. From the four-wheel drive field, notable entries include Stephen Petch, Ian Bainbridge and rising star George Lepley.

The rally will feature a compact route taking in all single-use stages. Significantly, the event will run historics and all two-wheel drive cars first on the road. As has become tradition, the event will feature two key parts. The Trackrod Historic Cup will run over 56 stage miles in six stages as the final round of the BHRC and a round of Northern Historic Rally Championship. The route will include one long stage in the darkness of Friday evening, which will be an ideal pre-Roger Albert Clark Rally warm-up for many crews.

On Saturday, the Trackrod Forest Stages will cover a full 45 miles in five stages as the final round of the Jordan Road Surfacing BTRDA Rally Series and the MAXXIS Motorsport UK English Rally Championship.

Clerk of the Course Rod Parkin, from the organising Trackrod Motor Club, said:
"we're very pleased to break the 100-mark three weeks before the rally. Last year we started 140 cars and it would be great to increase that number this year. In 2018, we won the trophy for the best BTRDA rally of the season and we're aiming to try and retain it this year."

With one month to go to the event, more than 70 entries have already been received for the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire (September 27/28).

The event organisers report a very brisk trade in entries in the three weeks since regulations were published and expect another crop of entries following this weekend?s Woodpecker Rally.

The rally will feature a compact route taking in all single-use stages on gravel roads that are in superb condition following a recent route survey. For the crews contesting two major rally championships, this is the only visit of the season to the classic forest stages in the Dalby and Cropton forest complexes. In 2018, the Trackrod Rally was awarded the trophy for the best BTRDA rally of the season.

Significantly, the event will run historics and all two-wheel drive cars first on the road. With an all-action showdown featuring five crews for the FUCHS Lubricants Motorsport UK British Historic Rally Championship, there will be a real buzz surrounding the rally.

"The early response to the event has been extremely positive and to have 70 entries at this point is most encouraging. There are over 160 crews contesting this weekend's Woodpecker Rally, which is the penultimate round of the BTRDA season, so we're expecting another rush of entries next week."
