Lough Neagh Stages - 7 Jul 13

EVENT CANCELLED - Statement from Rory McCarthy CoC of the Lough Neagh Stages

Posted: July 1, 2013 3:09 PM

"It is with great reluctance and not a small amount of frustration that we have taken the decision to cancel this year's Lough Neagh Stages rally. As with every rally, we required a minimum amount of entries to run but we fell short of that number.
We would like to thank all of those who did take the time to show their support for the Lough Neagh Marshals and made the effort to put their entries in. It was truly appreciated.
Maybe next year, if we're not surrounded by so many bigger rallies, we'll all be lucky enough to get together and have a good day's craic. Until then, please, keep it between the hedges. "
Rory Mccarthy CoC Lough Neagh Stages.

Lough Neagh Stages Rally Launched

Posted: June 7, 2013 8:40 PM

On Sunday the 7th of July the Lough Neagh Stages rally consisting of ten technically challenging stages will take place at the Moneyglass Demesne, Toomebridge just 1 mile from the Brecart roundabout (beside the new bridge) on the main B18 Toomebridge to Ballymena road and will be signposted off the main road. CoC for this event Rory McCarthy has made a few changes to the stage lay-outs and has a new team assembled which include Jackie Doyle as event secretary and Willie Wylie as stage commander, they are looking forward to this year’s event after the great feedback and excitement from last year. The club hope to get a strong entry of WRC, Group N and Group A both 2 and 4 wheel drive crewed machines to enter. M-Tec Graphic has sponsored a prize for the fastest 2 wheel drive car on the day which is bound to push the escorts on if any pushing is necessary.

This rally is very spectator and family friendly with spectator car parking conveniently in the grounds of the estate beside the service park, toilets and outside catering. The event will start at 10am in the morning but crews will be in the estate from 7am and the rally will run through the day until 7pm with our finish venue at the well known Old Thatch Inn, Hillhead Road, Castledawson and the location for the 11th stage where fine food will be available and the prize giving will take place on Sunday evening.

The 'drive for life' campaign is the main focus of the Lough Neagh Stages rally organisers this year with all profits from the rally going to this very worthy cause, with Joe O'Kane one of the event sponsors being a driving force behind this campaign ‘the aim to raise awareness for the prevention of suicide, to provide links to the various charities that are available for counseling for anyone who is feeling alone, worried, anxious or suicidal and to raise money for some of these charities’ the decision was made very easy to support his charity- http://www.driveforlife.co.uk

The Lough Neagh Stages rally will run on Sunday the 7th of July 2013 at the Higgins Family estate, Moneyglass demesne, Toomebridge. Our new C.o.C Rory McCarthy has made a few changes to the stage lay-outs but has stuck with the 10 stage format as last year which gave the rally that extra few miles to make it great value for money. Rory has assembled a new team which include Jackie Doyle as event secretary and Willie Wylie as stage commander, they are looking forward to this year’s event after the great feedback and excitement from last year.

All profit from the Lough Neagh Stages rally will be going to the "DRIVEFORLIFE" CAMPAIGN. Local business man Joe O ‘Kane from O ‘Kane Cars, Hillhead Road, Castledawson is the driving force for the "DRIVEFORLIFE" CAMPAIGN in our area and he is holding a draw for the co-driver seat in his rally car for the Lough Neagh Stages, entry to the draw is £20.00 and you can enter at his shop or on the website:
