TT WINNER, ROBERT DUNLOP, GUESTS AT MOTORSPORT INTERNATIONAL

Irish motorcycle ace, Robert Dunlop, will be just one of the guests at Dublin’s biggest motorsport extravaganza, the Motorsport International Exhibition, which takes place at the RDS Simmonscourt Pavilion between Friday, November 12 and Sunday, November 14. Dunlop will be on the Crossan Motorcycles stand throughout where he will be available to sign autographs and give interviews

Robert Dunlop is one of Ireland’s best known and most successful motorcycle racers and has won the biggest race of all, the Isle of Man TT, no fewer than seven times. He has taken a record number of wins in the daunting North West 200, which is held on the public roads of Ulster, and still holds countless lap records on Irish and English race tracks. In 1992, Dunlop took the British Supercup title.

Not only will Dunlop be there in person throughout the show, but so will his 1999 Honda RS125 competition bike on which he contested this year’s Isle of Man TT, the North West 200 and the Ulster Grand Prix. In addition there will be posters of the man himself and a video showing clips from his long and distinguished two-wheeled career. The Crossan Motorcycles stand is No 48 and will also feature a display of motorcycle helmets and clothing.

Four-wheeled motorsport is also heavily represented and on the Motorsport Management Services stand will be Jonathan Taylor’s (Celbridge) championship-winning RT2000 saloon car and the turbocharged 250bhp Formula Palmer Audi single-seater driven to a championship third this year by Donegal’s Damien Faulkner. The 2-litre Ford powered RT2000 is now arguably the country’s premier saloon race category and was recently the subject of an extensive feature in the UK’s Car and Car Conversions magazine, while the Palmer Audi is an initiative by former Grand Prix driver and TV commentator, Jonathan Palmer, designed to set talented youngsters on the ladder which leads to Formula One. Both represent modern motorsport at top national level.

In addition to the cars, bikes and personalities, there will be a huge variety of motorsport and performance-related products and services on display; from tools to trailers, books to banks, model car racing, motorsport clubs and associations, race circuit information, race driving schools, new and used spares, clothing and classic photographs, to mention just a few. Ferrari fans will even be able to buy official team Ferrari merchandise like T-shirts, caps and posters.

There is something for everybody - including an all-moving, ride-in simulator. If you have always wanted to feel what it’s like to ride in a top rally or race car with an expert at the wheel, this is a close as it gets to the real thing... The show opens on Friday November 12 from 16.00 to 21.00 and then on Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00.
