It has been a great season of competition, where competitors have travelled all around
the country to partake in the 2024 Motorsport Ireland National Endurance
Championship. It has been fantastic to see so many new faces take up this popular
and accessible entry into competitive motorsport, in addition to seeing the enthusiasm
of the new Clubs running events this year.
Competition has been fierce across the classes and with drop scores being taken into
account there are several who have their eyes on Championship honours. As our
event is the Championship finale, we are excited to see who will emerge as the 2024
Overall and Class Champions.
Clerk of the Course Tristan Horan and his team have been working extremely hard
since last year planning and preparing for our event. Tristan has set out 8 great
Selectives to be driven twice with a lunch halt to break up the day. Our event is widely-
known for being a great day of competition, great hospitality and for being competitor
friendly. Departing from our Event HQ, the crews will have a compact route, where the
Selectives are a mix of old and new, with a few twists to challenge the crews!
Clerk of the Course Tristan and Birr & District Motor Club are extremely grateful to the
Residents, Landowners and Farmers for their kind permission to host and for their
enthusiasm to facilitate our event.
We are delighted that our Event Headquarters is returning to Ballingarry/
Knockshegowna GAA Community Centre. There is plenty of space for crews to review
their paperwork, plan their team tactics and have a bite to eat as they ready for the off.
As all the competitive action takes place on Selectives which are on private land, there
will be no spectator access. However, if you are interested in learning about this
popular form of motorsport, come along to the Headquarters, meet the crews and see
the cars. You can also follow the times and penalties on results.shannonsportsit.ie.
If you do wish to see the action up close, why not Marshal? Anyone that is interested,
please contact our Chief Marshal, on 085 - 843 7131. Any and all help is
welcome and greatly appreciated.
As part of the event, we will have a collection in aid of Tommy Donlon, a former Club
Member, who had a very serious accident recently. As well as being a successful
competitor, Tommy was an avid Marshal who gave his time freely for others to safely
enjoy their motorsport. We hope that you will support this very worthy cause.
