Round 3 - 2024 Welsh Rally Championship

"It is with the deepest regret that I must announce the
cancellation of the 2024 Plains Rally. The organising team had
planned a compact route, comprising six special stages, with a
central service area. The stages are all in excellent condition,
sadly we will not be using them.
The reason for the cancellation is a simple economic fact. At a
meeting of the Club’s Executive Committee last night, there was
a review of the Plains Rally. This is a normal occurrence, event’s
progress are monitored at every Executive Committee meeting.
The simple fact is, with the entry we currently have, the event
was looking at a £30,000 loss. Such a loss would put
considerable strain on the Club’s financial reserve, and after
careful consideration, was considered a step too far; for the
sustainability of the Club moving forward, not a step the
Executive Committee could support.
The decision to cancel is a totally gut wrenching decision, but it
is the right one in these particular circumstances. To all those
competitors who entered the event, thank you for your support,
I am truly sorry that we can’t deliver an event on 18th May. The
organisers will of course, make a full refund of your entry fee;
bear with us, we will get that back to you as quickly as possible.
To the Championship organisers, thank you for your support. To
all the Stage Commanders, Rescue and Recovery Vehicle
operators; to the doctors and paramedics, and the army of
marshals, thank you for your commitment and support. To the
spectators, thank you, I’m sorry we can’t deliver this year’s event,
and finally, to the organising team, thank you for all your hard
work and support, which is very much appreciated.
Looking to the future, the Plains Rally has a date for 2025,
Saturday 17th May, we hope to see everyone in Bala, for a great
day’s motorsport. Yma o Hyd; Still Here."
