"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we in Midland Motor Club have to make an extremely tough decision regards our upcoming rally.
Due to circumstances beyond the clubs control and following tireless work with our friends and colleagues in Coillte and the added help from the Motorsport Ireland office we have unfortunately lost access and use of up to 1/3 of the rally millage.
Taking this into consideration and trying to give the competitor’s best value for their entry money we have to make the hard decision to cancel the Midland Motor Club forestry rally due to take place on the 22nd of May 2022.
As you can imagine this is not a decision the club takes lightly so close to the event and having so much work done to date but all other possible options including postponing to later in the motorsport calendar have been looked at. We hope that competitors understand the reason for the cancelation of the event. We wish to thank all the businesses of Drumshanbo and surrounding areas that had come on board to support and sponsor the event along with the near 80 competitors that had entered and paid to take part in the event. The club will be in contact with competitors during the coming days.
We are just going to carefully pack the paperwork away for this year and build for the rally’s return in 2024 and we look forward to welcoming each and every one to the event."
Yours in Motorsport,
Seamus McTigue
Clerk of the Course
