It’s an exciting time right now as Irish rallying looks set for a bumper year, and its in 2022 that the Southern 4 Rally Championship is looking forward to a season like no other as we delightedly announce the introduction of new events to this year’s calendar, as well as introduce a brand-new title sponsor for the championship.
IPS Packaging has grown a reputation as Ireland’s premier Plastic Bag and Eco Packaging supplier, and the Limerick based business has become synonymous with delivering the highest quality packaging solutions to customers all over Ireland and further afield.
IPS Packaging CEO Sean O’Carroll has been a long-term supporter of the Championship, as well as a keen competitor who has competed for a number of years in his Ford Escort MK2, and is delighted to introduce the “IPS Packaging.ie Southern 4 Rally Championship”.
This year’s calendar is full of change, with a number of events now joining the championship on a rotational basis ensuring that registered crews are set to take on some new stages in the years ahead. The 2022 IPS Packaging.ie Southern 4 Rally Championship season kicks off at its familiar start point of the West Cork Rally (March 19th/20th), and heads to Killarney next for the Rally of the Lakes (April 30th/May 1st).
Next up are a pair of new events on the S4RC calendar, as the Circuit of Munster (June 5th) and the Stonethrowers Rally (July 17th) come on board, before the final double header of the year with the Cork 20 (July 30th/31st).
Finally, attention turns back towards Co. Kerry for what is set to be an exciting conclusion to the 2022 IPS Packaging.ie Southern 4 Rally Championship season, with the final round for the Main Field and Junior competitors taking place on the Kerry Winter Stage Rally (Oct 30th), while our Historic crews will conclude their Championship battle on the Killarney Historic Stages (Nov 28th).
As in previous years, the Southern 4 Rally Championship remains a strong supporter of the development of the next generation of talent in the sport, and the Junior Competitor Prize fund returns once more in 2022. The Winning Junior Driver will receive vouchers to the value of Junior Rally entries to all events of the 2023 S4RC, while the 1st Overall Junior Navigator will receive vouchers to the value of 1 set of Junior Rally Notes for each event included in the 2023 Southern 4 Rally Championship. 2nd & 3rd placed drivers will also vouchers to the value of Junior Rally entries in the 2023 Championship.
Registration for the 2022 IPS Packaging.ie Southern 4 Rally Championship is €40 per competitor, and sign-up will be available at Documentation Scrutiny throughout the season. Further details will be made available to S4RC Social Media Channels.
