How to bid on Paul Nagle's helmet

Paul Nagle has generously donated the crash helmet which he wore during the 2021 World Rally Championship.

He has had it autographed by the following: Sebastian Loeb, Kalle Rovanpera, Petter Solberg, Robert Reid, Elfyn Evans, Dani Sordo, Marcus Gronholm. Adrien Formaux, Pierre Loubet, Marko Martin, Craig Breen, Takamoto Katsuta, Oliver Solberg, Gus Greensmith, Malcolm Wilson Thiery Neuville, Sebastian Ogier, Carlo Sainz, Ott Tanak, Kris Meeke and of course Paul.

Paul has already had an offer of 15,000 Euros. We will be auctioning it during the Gala Dinner. The proceeds will go the Recovery Haven Kerry and Paul's local GAA club.

Message to Deja Vu organisers from Paul Nagle:

"I am traveling back this morning after a very tough weekend in Portugal.

I got the helmet signed by every world champion from 2000 up to this year. (Robert Reid for Richard burns in 2001. I also got Carlos Sainz , Marko Martin, Malcolm Wilson and will have Kris Meeke.

I already have a very good offer on the helmet of 15K which will go to Recovery Haven Kerry http://recoveryhavenkerry.com

Anything more I would like to give to my local GAA club they are really struggling to build dressing rooms for their female footballers and my two kids have just started to play. I would like to give back something to the community."

TOP WORLD RALLY DRIVERS LEAD DÉjÀ VU TRALEE PARADE.

Craig Breen, who is lying third in the World Rally Championship will lead (subject to his commitments with the M-Sport Team), a spectacular parade of 150 cars on Déjà vu Tralee on Saturday May 28th. Craig hopes to be driving his recently rebuilt ex-Frank Meagher Circuit of Ireland winning Ford Sierra Cosworth RS. Frank was one of Craig's boyhood heroes and this re-build is a tribute to the Tipperary man whose rallying exploits captivated a generation of fans in the 1990s.

You have to come forward a generation and a half to recall number 2 seed Kris Meeke’s first World Rally Championship win with Citroen in Argentina in 2015. The Dungannon driver and his then Killarney co-driver Paul Nagle, who will be in Tralee over the Déjà vu weekend, recorded four more wins with Citroen - Portugal & Finland in 2016 and Mexico & Spain in 2017, before transferring to the Toyota World Rally Team. Kris will be driving his family’s unique Project X four-wheel-drive 2L Opel Corsa and Sydney Meeke, the cars creator will be alongside his son in this 1996 Kit Car. And the Meeke involvement does not end there as Barry Meeke will be in another of Sydney’s creations the Ford Orion that Bertie Fisher, Stephen Finally and the World Championship boxer Barry McGuiggan drove in 1986.

SNIJERS RETURN
We go ‘foreign’, as they say, for our number 3 seed, the seven-times Belgium Rally Champion, Dutch Rally Champion, and European Rally Champion Patrick Snijers. Patrick will drive a Lancia, not an 037 Group B car like he drove in 1983 and 1986, but a 1991 Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v., thanks to its owner Jonathan Radley. The suave multi-generational driver, (who still competes professionally in the Belgium GT3 series), is best remembered in Ireland for his epic battles on the Lurgan Park Rally with Kenny McKinstry in 1996, Gwyndaff Evans in 1997 and when he beat Mark Higgins on the specialist one-venue event in 1998.

FIRING UP THE MEMORIES
Déjà vu – “a feeling of having already experienced the present situation”, will revive memories of machines and drivers when this key event in the Kerry Motor Clubs 50th anniversary year starts at 10am in The Mall before setting out in their 130 mile route around the Dingle Peninsula. Déjà vu Motorsport is the brain child of two retired rallying enthusiasts Dr. Beatty Crawford and Alan (Plum) Tyndall. Beatty was a well known co-driver in the ‘60s winning the Circuit of Ireland with Adrian Boyd in 1971 and ‘Plum’ a former Irish saloon racing champion is best known for his motorsporting commentaries and his RPM tv show that ran on the major Irish TV channels for 23 years. Déjà vu events have raised over €200,000 for charity since their inception and the Tralee events chosen charity is Recovery Haven Kerry.

1974 CIRCUIT OF IRELAND
Your thoughts may go back to the 1974 Circuit when you glance into the cockpit of Jerry Bailey‘s Lancia Stratos replica as Cathal Curley the winner of that 5-day classic sealed his victory on Slea Head that year, one of the stages he will be taking this dart shaped supercar over. His battle had with Billy Coleman’s Escort had ended on the most westerly rally stage in Europe, as the Millstreet driver made a rare mistake and it was plain sailing for the Derryman after that.

Frank O’Mahony and his partner Hugh McPhillips have been corner stones of the rallying community in the south-west for many years. They have been top three finishers on the Rally of the Lakes; the Cork 20 Rally; and the West Cork Rally on numerous occasions, and they were joint Clerks of the Course for the Cork 20 in 2007 when the works Citroen and Ford teams came to call. The two old pals are in Frank’s Mini Cooper S.

Add to the list notables such as Paul Barrett and Gordon Noble in an Escort RS 2000, Dennis Biggerstaff, a multiple British Rallycross Champion in an ex-works Subaru Impreza and his son Stuart Biggerstaff a Norther Ireland Rally Champion in a Metro 6R4; David Greer; Conor Falvey in his Porsche 911, and many more rally names and you can see that it will be quite a show.

And the cars! 30 Fords including an RS 200; 16 Porsches; 14 Minis; 11 Subarus; 7 Opels; 6 Toyotas; 5 Lancias, Renaults and Sunbeams; 4 Vauxhalls, BMWs and Audis; 3 Hillmans, Triumphs and VWs; 2 MGs, Jaguars, Fiats, Peugeots and Ferraris - yes a 308 and a fabulous F40; 1 Mitsubishi, Honda, Nissan, Saab and an Aston Martin!

Patrick Snijers back for another Deja vu.

We so enjoyed having Patrick Snijers with us on Donegal Deja vu that we had no hesitation in inviting him back to take part in Deja vu Tralee. He had a blast in Donegal and jumped at the chance.

The Belgian has won seven Belgian national rally titles between 1983 and 1994. He was Dutch rally champion in 1992 and European Rally Champion in 1994.

He loves Ireland and has competed at Lurgan Park no less than six times in Willie McKee's Subarus, winning it twice and finishing second twice. He won the Manx International in 1988 with Dany Colebunders co-driving, in a BMW M3 E30. They beat Jimmy McRae and Rob Arthur in a Sierra Cosworth by 31 secs. Malcolm Wilson was 5th and Pentti Airkkali 6th overall.

He will be driving Jonathan Radley's stunning Lancia Delta and will be navigated by Nigel Walker.

Gary Gillespie will MC the Gala Dinner in the Rose Hotel at Déjà vu Tralee on Saturday 28th, May 2022 when guests gather for one of the highlights of the Kerry Motor Club’s 50th anniversary year.

“I am delighted that Gary, my partner in commentaries on the RPM Motorsport television series for twenty-three years, has agreed to become our Master of Ceremonies on this night of entertainment, videos and interviews.” Announced Alan (Plum) Tyndall who with Dr. Beatty Crawford organise the popular motoring reunions.

Very few tickets remain for the glittering evening in which guests will marvel at the on-screen antics of the great Irish drivers of the past, spellbound by the home-grown and international entertainment; enjoy a luxury three-course meal; and get an intriguing and often amusing insight from the interviews with our Irish and international rallying guests.

A ROSE TINTED SPECTACLE

Rose tinted spectacles enhance memories through time but there will be no disappointments when over 150 Classic Rally and Supercars roll onto the hallowed ground outside the Rose Hotel in Tralee, County Kerry. The Rose of Tralee Dome site will be the start and finish point for the Rentokil Initial supported tour, the feature event in the Tralee Motor Club’s 50th anniversary year.

Déjà vu Tralee will be the seventh reunion of its kind organised by Dr. Beatty Crawford and Alan (Plum) Tyndall. These have raised over £150,000 for charities since inception in 2016. All profits will be donated to Recovery Haven Kerry, the cancer support house.

The multi-generational appeal of the Déjà vu events is epitomised by four of the entries already received. Five-times Irish Tarmac Champion Austin MacHale will have his grandson Adam reading the route notes in their Group A Toyota Celica, and his son Gareth will be dusting off the family Ford Focus WRC in which he became the 2010 Irish Tarmac Champion.

Dennis Biggerstaff, a multiple British and Irish Rallycross Champion is bringing his ex-Peder Solberg Subaru Impreza WRC along and his son Stuart, who will be driving another of the families rallying gems, a Group B Metro 6R4. Then there are the Kellys from Donegal. Donagh, a National and Tarmac Rally Champion and a five-time winner of the West Cork Rally will be taking his ex-works East African Safari Toyota Celica out of his Stables Motorsport Centre, and his son Eamonn, the runner-up in the British Junior Rally Championship in 2021, is bringing along their Group 2 Subaru Impreza.

The Creighton’s from Belfast, Niall, a historic rallying regular and his son William the 2021 British Junior Rally Championship will have two Porsche 911s in the parade. And there will be many other famous names of the past and present in the driving seats of this high priced cavalcade. ‘Mr. Cork’, Frank O’Mahony will be wheeling out his Mini Cooper S with his former co-driver Hugh McPhillips. They have participated with considerable success in both the Cork 20 and West Cork Rallies in the past and they jointly helped to organise the Cork 20 Rally in 2007 when the Citroen and Ford World Championship Teams came to call.

The 130 mile route will circulate the Dingle Peninsula in a clockwise direction taking in such classic Circuit of Ireland and Tralee Rally stages as Sleagh Head and the Conor Pass before the cars return to The Rose Hotel in the late afternoon.

Less than a year away is Déjà Vu Tralee a spectacular 130-mile trip that has been planned to coincide with the Tralee Motor Club’s Fiftieth Anniversary. You will traverse the Dingle Peninsula, passing through such tourist hot-spots as Inch Beach and Dingle Town and driving over classic Irish rallying stages like the Connor and Camp Mountain Passes, and around Slea Head. Rally Headquarters will be in the luxurious Rose Hotel in Tralee, the home of the Rose of Tralee Festival.
