The Ulster Automobile Club, organisers of Craigantlet Hill Climb, are delighted to announce that the entry for the event abounds with talent both home grown and from further afield. The 'Hill' is the fifth round of the Avon Tyres / Wynn Developments Motorsport UK British Hill Climb Championship and 22 of the top runners are travelling to the outskirts of Belfast this weekend.
Clerk of the Course Wilson Carson commented;
'This is the largest number of BHC competitors the event has attracted for many years, it's great to see the 'Hill' being recognised by so many drivers as 'one to do''.
The event is also the third round of the Millers Oils ANICC Hill Climb Championship and 68 entries from across the Province will also battle for honours over the eight tenths of a mile run up the 'Hill'. The event was oversubscribed within 9 days of the entries opening, again testament to the attraction of Craigantlet and its potential to reach speeds in excess of 100 mph on closed public roads.
Two of the local entrants are Simon Brien, the event sponsor and his son Jack Brien seen in the attached image with Wilson Carson and Craig Hunt, Clerk and Deputy Clerk of the Course respectively sharing in the great news about the quality entry.
