As the 2018 circuit racing season comes towards a close, Knockhill is gearing up for two major Knockhillevents over the winter period which will see rally cars in action at Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre.
Following the successful inclusion in last year’s series, the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship, in association with MSVR, will again visit the Dunfermline, Fife circuit for round three on Sunday December 9th.
The Knockhill Stages Rally, organised by Dunfermline Car Club, is an all-tarmac event and will again see the cream of Britain’s top drivers competing around the perimeter as well as the track forming the basis for almost 40 stage miles of rally action.
Already, over 100 competitors have registered for the 2018 Championship, so a capacity entry is expected, and which sees entries open at 20.00 tomorrow evening (Friday 12th October). With the two prior rounds at Oulton Park and Cadwell Park filling within hours, competitors are urged to enter quickly to avoid disappointment. Championship information is available at www.msnrallychamp.co.uk but crews can enter via www.dunfermlinecarclub.co.uk from tomorrow evening.
Fans and competitors won’t have long to wait for their second fix of rallying action at Knockhill as scheduled for Sunday 24th February 2019 is the Grant Construction Stages Rally. Organised by Border Ecosse Car Club, the event is expected to run eight stages over 37 miles, it is set to comprise round one of the Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship. Further details are available at www.borderecossecarclub.com.
Circuit rallying features up to 100 cars competing against the clock, across a variety of bespoke rally stages incorporating different parts of the race circuit, including paddocks and perimeter roads. Sections of track are run in both directions and include challenges such as water splashes and jumps.
Stuart Gray, Knockhill Director of Events:
“After our inaugural year in 2017, we are delighted to be hosting round three of the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship once again this December. Knockhill has a very long pedigree of hosting rally events and stages of major rallies and we again plan an interesting combination of stage miles here which will be different and exciting for the crews and spectators alike. We’ve had such names as Stig Blomqvist, Hannu Mikkola, Alister McRae and BTCC stars Gordon Shedden and Aiden Moffat competing in rallies at Knockhill in the recent past so both the Knockhill Stages Rally and the Grant Construction Stages Rally will again add to that heritage.”
