The Media launch of the 2018 Imokilly Mini Stages took place last Friday night , a large crowd turned out for the launch at the Midleton Park Hotel.
The event this year sponsored by Ollie Kierce Car Sales Carrigtwohill is already creating huge interest with competitors saying they cannot wait for the biggest sporting event in East Cork this year .
Clerk of the Course for the event Emmet Cronin welcomed everyone to the event and said this year the rally has two new stages that the club never rallied on before, they are Inch and Mount Uniacke they are drivers stages and I am sure they will test driver and machine.
Emmet said we are indebted to our main sponsor Ollie Kierce and all our sponsors for their continued financial support, we also depend hugely on the support of our neighbouring motorclubs for marshals to help run the event .
The event is a huge tourist boost to the local area and there most likely won’t be a bed to be got in the Midleton area for the weekend of the rally .
Special guest on the night was Kerry man Rob Duggan Rob fresh from a fantastic result in Donegal , Rob was also second on this rally last year in an Escort he might be back he said this year .Rob said the Imokilly Mini Stages is an excellent event
Guests and speakers on the night included a member of the chamber of commerce and local Minister David Stanton.
Superintendent Noonan said the organising committee have put a lot of effort into the local event and he and the Gardaí would be working with the organisers , he appealed for spectators to spectate from a safe area and for road users to drive with caution at all times.
The entries are open and the club are delighted to say that entries are already at the 30 mark with almost a month to go to the event .
The club are delighted to be a round of the Plasticbags.ie Southern 4 Rally Championship.
