After a heroic car rebuild by his team following an accident at pre event shakedown, Peugeot Rally Academy driver Craig Breen has retired at the midday regroup after five stages of the event. Craig was fifth in his WRC2 category at the time after being hampered by oil pressure problems on the previous three stages. The engine trouble is unrelated to yesterday?s accident.

eugeot Rally Academy driver Craig Breen is aiming to re-energise his 2015 WRC2 championship this week when he brings his SAINTeLOC Racing run Peugeot 208T16 to WRC Rally Finland (July 30th - August 2nd).
Craig's fourth trip of his career to this legendary gravel event is carrying high hopes for himself and his co-driver Scott Martin but they will need to have their own event preparation perfectly tuned as there is absolutely no margin for error on what is affectionately known as "The Finnish Grand Prix". Blind crests and hidden corners mean it's vital to position the car correctly before bravely letting the cars fly to ensure maximum speed through the bend.
After a short shakedown test the event gets underway on Thursday evening when the drivers will tackle a Jyvaskyla "Harju" city centre street stage ahead of the first full day of rallying on Friday. During Friday the crews will cover more than half the rally's competitive distance including two runs through the returning 34km Ouninpohja stage which is regarded as the sport's biggest test. All this without the opportunity to service the cars until they return to the host city that evening will mean a driving style that will not only ensure speed but survival too.
Although only a near comparison in distance, Saturday won't fall short on spectacle as Craig and the Peugeot 208T16 will compete over the famous big jumps of Rally Finland's classic stages where good pace notes are vital to master them. Sunday features just two passes over the fast and demanding roads of Myhinpaa ahead of the finish podium in Jyvaskyla later on that afternoon.
Because Craig has honed many of his gravel skills on these very roads the European Rally Championship title contender is very confident that this is a real opportunity to take the top step of the WRC2 podium on Sunday and give his 2015 points scoring tally a real boost.
