Neath Valley Stages 2015 - CANCELLED

"It is with deep regret and after much deliberation that I have to announce that the Neath Valley Stages, which was due to run on August 15th, is now cancelled.
The rally was a qualifying round of the following championships:
Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship (Nat ?A?)
WWRS R.A.C. Rally Championship (Nat ?B?)
Welsh Forest Clubmans (Nat ?B?)
GwynneSpeed Rally Challenge (Nat ?B?) FMP Rally Challenge (Nat ?B?)
The main contributing factor towards the cancellation was the MSA?s announcement that split fields will not be allowed on multi venue stage events. This ruling is already having an impact on Category 1 Historic cars.
In my opinion running a single field will not solve spectator safety issues. People always have and always will move about between cars. This is not a new problem but a problem that is impossible to police.
I believe that a Nat ?A? British Historic Championship event should be a standalone event and not inter-seeded with modern cars which will be running under a Nat ?B? permit. For this year we had planned a shorter, more affordable event for the Nat ?B? Clubman competitors. Inter-seeding these competitors with the Historics will make this logistically impossible.
The final nail in the coffin was the MSA?s latest Multi Venue Stage Rally Safety Requirements which was released on 24th April and are to be implemented from the 1st June. We are a very small organising team and feel that too much responsibility is now being placed on the shoulders of organisers and volunteers.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our past sponsors for their generosity, officials - especially members of the Forest of Dean Motor Club, Ross & District Motor Club and everyone that has played their part on the day in the safe running of the Neath Valley Stages over the last eight years.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere apologies for any inconvenience that the cancellation will cause."
