Approved regulations are now available for next Sunday the 9th of Novembers Autotest, in AXIS Business Park Tullamore.
This event will cater for Hewison Trophy and non championship competitors using the same test routes. The only difference between the tests for each class will be the Class F non championship cars will be doing less reverses. At special yellow poled gates, Hewison Trophy cars must reverse through and class F cars must drive through. The class F cars will be clearly labelled on the day and will not qualify for overall positions or Hewison Trophy points. They are eligible for their own class awards. I am hoping this event will be a good introduction into the world of Championship Autotesting for those more used to non championship events.
You can enter on the day, but please let us know if you think you might attend to give an idea of the numbers of entries on the day.
Thank you for your time and if you have any questions please contact 087 0659368 / +353 87 0659368

The Westmeath and District Motor Club are holding a motor race in Tullamore from 10:30am on Sunday the 9th of November in the AXIS Business Park, just off the road from the centre of Tullamore to Clara. There will be arrows pointing to the venue from the Tullamore ring road. This event is being organised in association with The Tullamore Court Hotel.
The event organisers, the Westmeath and District Motor Club expect over 25 cars to compete in this Autotest event, a sport in which drivers are required to negotiate a series of short courses, known as tests in the shortest possible time. There are time penalties added for mistakes such as hitting course markers, so this is one of the purest demonstrations of precision driving. This event will be part of the prestigious National Hewison Trophy Championship, with some of Ireland top drivers expected to compete. This should prove to be a popular day out for all the family.
There is no set admission price, although donations will be accepted by the non profit club to enable them to bring more quality motorsport to the area. The Westmeath and District Motor Club run three Motorsport competitions every year and help at many rally events across the country.
For those interested in Motorsport joining a club is the ideal first step to this fun and social sport, you can help, marshal or race. The Westmeath and District Motor Club can be contacted at secretary@westmeathmotorclub.ie, www.westmeathmotorclub.ie or see their facebook page “westmeathand.districtmotorclub”.

Have you ever dreamed of racing a car, presume it’s a sport too expensive for you, well according to a local car club, motorsport can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of budget. The Westmeath and District Motor Club are running an National Championship Autotest competition on Sunday the 9th November in the AXIS Business Park, Tullamore. This ultra-competitive form of motorsport delivers fun racing at a very low cost. The rules of Autotesting are fairly simple, competitors must drive through a series of short tight courses, know as tests, in the shortest possible time. There are time penalties added for mistakes such as hitting the course markers or taking the wrong route through the test. The Westmeath Autotest kindly supported by the The Tullamore Court Hotel will consist of four tests on tarmac, which the competitors will have to do three times.
This event is suitable for all two wheel drive, non turbo road cars. The cars do not have to be road legal so many competitors buy and race very cheap NCT failures. These cars can be bought for as little as €100 and the cost can be further lowered as the Westmeath club allows a car to be shared by two drivers. Other competitors use their everyday road cars for Autotesting with the Toyota Starlets being quite popular. The cars require very little modification, with most competitors fitting a steering knob to aid quick direction changes. This Autotest is open to anyone 17 years of age or older, with a Motorsport Ireland Race Licence. The Westmeath and District Motor Club can arrange a licence which costs €25 for a one day or from €40 for a yearly licence, which would allow entry to other events.
This year’s Westmeath and District Motor Club Autotest event is part of the prestigious National Hewison Trophy National Championship, which will also see specialist low weight purpose built cars to compete.
The Westmeath and District Motor Club run three Motorsport competitions every year and help at many rally events across the country. For those interested in Motorsport spectating or marshaling at events is great fun and an ideal first step towards racing.
