Counting Round - 2013 National Autocross Championships (Loose)

Midland Motor Club is delighted to announce their Autocross on the 30th of 2013 June was a huge success. This was the first time in the clubs history to hold a loose surface autocross which was held in Ballyfeeney Rock in Scramoge.This would of not happened without the great help of Tom Ward who with the event organisers built the track from scratch which took alot of time and was well worth it in the end as it was a great success. The club wishes to thank Tom for his great efforts on building such a great track.The club would also like to thank Gerry Kelly and Marc McDermott and there team for the work they put in to getting it done and running the event so well and safely.
The track was 1.2 of a km long which was a very tricky and fast track which will test all of the drivers skills to get around.The day brought competitors from all around ireland to battle it out. This is Round 5 of the Midland Motor Club Clubman Championship sponsored by Johnston Toy town Longford. This event is round 3 of five star catering national loose surface autocross.
The first timed run of the day was 11.30 with all the cars out on track each car will get 3 runs and a practise and their best time gave them their overall poistion .There was a total of 45 entrys at the start of the day which was a great achievement for the clubs first time to run this sort of event. After the first run 1st Mervyn Deane 2nd Ian Barrett 3rd Derek Deane.
After all of the 3 timed runs the results were done and the prises were given out with the overall winner was Derek Deane in his buggy with 2nd going to his brother Mervyn Deane also in a buggy and 3rd going to local man Colin Duffy who had a great result in Subaru.With class results going as follows with first in class 1 was Rurai Mcguire,first in class 2 local man Anthony Dolan ,first in class 3 Walter Burke, first in class 4 James McGreal, first in class 5 James Lucey, first in class 6 Adrian Deane first in class 7 Cillian Lenehan.Now to the local lads Enda Mcloughlan finished 7th overall and 3rd in class 6, Colin Flannagan finished 16th overall and 6thin class 6, Tommy Donlon 18th overall and 3rd in class 1, Michael McCormac finished 20th overall and 3rd in class 2, Sean Brady finished 25th overall and 4th in class 1, Eamonn Brady finished 28th overall and 5th in class run and also well done to him and Sean Brady who competed in the Donegal international rally and also Seamus McTigue Well done lads, Sean Wallace finished 33rd overall and 9th in class 2,Shane Healy finished 34th overall and 10th in class 2, Joe Lenehan 37th overall and 7th in class 1, Ollie Kelly finished 38th overall and 12th in class 2.Well done to all the local lads.COC Gerry Kelly would like to thank all marshalls who came out to help and anyone one else that wasenvoled in the running of the event.The next event on the Midland Motor Club calendar is the grass autocross on the 10th and 11th of august.
