It's nearing that time of year again folks and the Retro team have been
working hard preparing for the 2012 Circuit of Ireland Retrospective
Trial.
We are happy to welcome the continued support of Lisburn City Council
who have again agreed to host the Retro in Lisburn City. We are also
pleased to report a return to The Premier Inn, Lisburn, who have always
given the Retro a warm welcome over the years.
We have decided, for this years event, to go with a two day Retro on
Saturday the 29th and Sunday 30th September. We hope a compressed
format is what the event needs to attract new participants to this
branch of Motor Sport.
As always we will endeavour to mix the best venues from the past years
with new content to keep things fresh and exciting.
An early start on Saturday morning at the Lagan Valley Island Centre
will ensure we can squeeze as much action as possible in to the
weekend.
The first leg of the event will be made up of a full day of tests
between Lisburn and Newtownards, followed by the ever popular night
navigation trial.
Something new is in store for the Sunday leg of the event, a completely
new to the Retro loop of tests and regularities that will keep crews on
their toes all day.
A relaxing dinner and Prize Giving in Rally HQ will round off the
weekend.
2012 will be a shorter event than Retro fans are used to, but the team
are dedicated to doing whats best for the event, and we believe this
format is what is needed to attract new interest in the Circuit Retro
and allow the event to sustain and grow.
If all goes well and the feedback is right we plan to return to our
original three day format in 2013 and to really shake thing up and keep
the event fresh and exciting for all those involved we will move to new
territory and an all new base. Details will follow.
