The organisers of the 2011 Dogleap Stages Rally, and the Committee of Maiden City Motor Club Ltd regrets that the event planned for Saturday 6th August 2011 has been cancelled due to lack of entries.
The Clerk of the Course, Ian Connolly wishes to thank those competitors who did submit entries, and the organising team of the event for their support.
Ian said,
“Once again a top quality event has been cancelled due to the ‘tough economic climate’, and the decision was taken now rather than later to accommodate competitors and services involved in the event.”

Also if the event doesn't run, or if an entry is withdrawn, a refund will be made IN FULL

Maiden City Motor Club has announced details of the 2011 Dogleap Forest Rally, based in Limavady on Saturday 6th August 2011.
The event’s new Clerk of the Course, Ian Connolly said he was looking forward to working the new team involved with running the 2011 event.
Plans are at an advanced stage for the North West forest venue, with a great day’s rallying for competitor and spectator alike.
Speaking at the launch of the event, Ian thanked the assistance provided by Limavady Borough Council, and hoped this would be a boost to the local tourism in this region, after welcoming the Deputy Mayor of the Limavady, Ms. Orla Beattie.
He went on to say that the event would be a ‘value for money’ event for competitors with all the usual quality stages being run in the area, as is expected for this type of event. There are 9 special stages with a total of 45 stage miles. Service area will be in Limavady, providing the public with the chance to view the rally cars at close hand, and the chance for a few autograph hunters to talk to the drivers.
The event itself is the 6th round of the MSA Hankook Northern Ireland Rally Championship, and is the first all gravel event in the 2011 calendar. It is also a round of the local Jon McIvor Cars Maiden City Motor Club Championship.
As expected, there should be a few overseas competitors to this event.
Former winner of the event, Richard Hogg remarked that he believed this event had the best forest rally stages anywhere in Ireland and matched only some of those seen on the Rally GB forests used in Wales. Richard went on to wish the 2011 Dogleap organisers well with organising the event and looked forward to the event in early August.
One of the special stage sponsors for the event, present at the launch, Joe Gallagher of Joe Gallagher Entertainments, Strabane, said he,
“was delighted to be associated with the event, and looked forward to working with Ian Connolly and the other Maiden City Motor Club team members in bringing this event to the fore later in the Summer.” Joe continued, “with our busy schedule this summer, this is not the usual type of event for us get involved in, but it gives us the chance to look at the MotorSport promotion business. It’s all entertainment, but it provides us to look at new areas where spectators go to watch a sporting event, and who know’s, maybe we will be able to bring some new ideas to the fore for the public!”
The other Special Stage sponsors for the event include M-Tech Signs, Magherafelt and Woodland, Rasharkin.
Regulations and Entry Forms for the event are now available on the Maiden City Motor Club webpage
