Maiden City Motor Club has just announced details of its special Training Day at Aghanloo Airfied outside Limavady Town, on Saturday 29th October, beginning at 10am.

Maiden City MC President, Jon McIvor said,
“Maiden City Motor Club will be hosting a Training Day in Limavady, and we will be encouraging as many Club members and members of the public to come along and see how rallying, timing and marshalling at motorsport events takes place. Members of the public can come along and see rally cars up close, and talk to the drivers about this sport, see how marshals operate and get involved in learning how electronic timing is carried out.”

Club members will be on hand to brush up on their Timekeeping, Marshaling skills along with some handy tips for Navigators or intending Navigators.

Members of the public can come along and watch the training in progress, and in addition be able to sample some of the sights and sounds of a selection of rally cars.

It is hoped that visitors can try out some of the examples on display, and even try out sitting inside a rally car and feel what it is like to get strapped into a modern rally car and experience the modern rally suit, helmet and modern rally-seat, which is nothing like that found in any road car.

Answers to many questions will be shared, while many competitors and organisers on hand to explain what is involved in the structure of rallying, across many fields that exist today, from simple navigation events, up to full WRC events, with many experienced International officials in attendance on the day.

Young people are welcome to this special event and if they are under 17years, must be accompanied by an adult.

This is a day not to be missed, and for those who are interested, new members can join the Club and find about the exciting programme being planned for the 2012 year ahead.
