The organisers of the 2011 P & R Benn Greystoke Stages Rally are delighted to confirm that the event is on and will go ahead. Entries are at a level where Roger Fisher, Clerk of the Course, was happy enough to say go ahead. With excellent co-operation from Malcolm Wilson and M-Sport and the solid support of the host club, West Cumbria Motorsport Club, the event will run even though entries at present haven't reached the minimum stated in the regulations.
Roger said
'I'm sure we will get a few more entries trickling in and therefore feel confident we can give the green light for everyone to make their way to Greystoke for the 9th/10th July'. We look forward to seeing all competitors, old and new, for what we hope will be a splendid day.'
If anyone is busy working on their car and not sure if it will be ready before entries close then they needn't worry because the organising team have also agreed to take entries right up to the 9th July when scrutineering and signing – on is scheduled.
As with all events marshals are needed to support the competitors and Chief Marshal, would be pleased to hear from anyone who can come along on the day and help out. Irving can be contacted on 01946 861488 or 07759 936942, and don't forget as it's going to be a lovely day it will be a great rally to marshal on!

The organising team of the 2011 P & R Benn Greystoke Stages Rally are delighted with the rush of good news that has come their way over the last few days.
There are now about 20 entries either received or promised and on the way so things are looking good for the 10th July event in Greystoke Forest near Penrith, Cumbria.. The current top 2 competitors in the ANECC Stage Rally Championship, Michael Glendinning, a previous winner of the event, and Richard Cooke already have their entries in as do Phil Pickard and Andrew Wheatley. So a good quality field is starting to develop.
Michael O'Brien has confirmed his willingness to come along and drive his Focus WRC as course car for the second time. A sight worth seeing.
Improvements to the venue have been done including the regrading of the forest tracks providing a cracking surface and the enlargement of the service area giving plenty of room for everybody.
'From an organisational point of view we are ready to go' said Clerk of the Course Roger Fisher 'We're sure we've covered every angle, the only thing we can't arrange is the weather but knowing how sunny it is usually is in Cumbria that shouldn't be a problem!'.
Potential entrants should remember that the organisers are not making any administration charge for entries withdraw at any time so no penalty if you can't make it. And again a reminder that if they do make it to the 50 entries point a draw will be held to refund one lucky crew their entry fee.
Throughout the weekend funds will be raised at signing-on and on the day via collection buckets in the service area for the Cumbria branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Everyone attending is asked to give generously.

The news everyone has been waiting for – the regs and entry forms for this years P & R Benn Greystoke Stages Rally have been released and are now available via the event website
Online entries are possible for this premier forest single venue rally which will take place on the 10th July 2011 at Greystoke Forest near Penrith in Cumbria, 38 miles of prime forest roads for just £295, great value in this day and age.
Entries are encouraged so that the magic figure of 50 entrants can be achieved as soon as possible as this number will trigger the draw for one crew to receive a refunded free entry. Now a days rallying for nothing!
Clerk of the Course, Roger Fisher said
' The stages are looking good, the excellent weather has been booked, the marshals are keen to get into place, the clocks have been set so all we need now are cars and crews to make this a days rallying to remember'.
Organisers are keen to stress that the rally will be one of only two occasions each year that competitors will be able to drive across the Greystoke roads following recent changes in local planning rules. An opportunity not to be missed.

The organising team of the P & R Benn Greystoke Stages Rally, to be run in Greystoke Forest on the 10th July, are pleased to announce that another Cumbrian business has put its backing behind the superb forest single venue event.

Anything we can do to support them and assist them in achieving a top quality days rallying we are happy to do.'
Local businesses are really getting behind the rally with Stan Palmers now added to the list of P & R Benn, Goodfellows Tyres and Stamper Asccountants who are already committed to supporting the rally.

The organising team from the West Cumbria Motorsport Club are delighted to be able to report that the Greystoke Stages Rally will be back after the disappointment of 2010 even better in 2011.
The event will take place on Sunday 10th July in the Greystoke Forest near Penrith in Cumbria, the M Sport/ Ford WRC test facility. Support for this years rally has come from Paul Benns' business P & R Benn of Cockermouth and with this backing the rally will now be known as the P & R Benn Greystoke Stages Rally. Paul Benn said ' We are delighted to be able to support the Greystoke Stages and hope that with this backing the event will run as successfully as it did in 2009 and 2008'. Additional sponsorship will come from Goodfellows Tyres of Cockermouth and Stamper Accountants of Silloth.
The event will be a qualifying round of the ANECCC, ANWCC, ANCC and KLMC rally championships so competition on the day should be intense and demand for entries high.
The entry fee has been kept below £300 with the 38 stage miles costing competitors £295 making it one of the best value for money per mile forest events in the northern calendar. However, for one lucky competitor there is the potential of a free days rally as the organisers have decided that if entries pass the 50 mark a draw will be held for all those who pass scrutineering and sign on with one fortunate crew having the entry fee refunded in full.
