The Committee of the Border Rally Championship is delighted to announce that Sligo Pallets is the new title sponsor of the popular clubman’s championship for 2011.
Based in Ballisodare in County Sligo, Sligo Pallets is owned and run by Andrew Mullen and Elaine Doherty. The husband and wife team are well known rally competitors, and have made regular appearances on Border Rally Championship events in recent years. Their son Darragh has also got the bug and has been freelance navigating for the past 4 years, with notable success.
Sligo Pallets is a limited company that specialises in supplying as new pallets to companies all over Ireland – North and South. The company collect, sort, repair and grade pallets to high specification. All pallets therefore have gone through rigorous grading procedure before getting the Sligo Pallets approval.
The recycled pallets are just as robust, and with the same lifespan as new pallets – except at significantly reduced costs. The graded pallets are supplied to companies with much consideration to their intended use, so lighter pallets can be used where weight is not an issue thus reducing costs further.
Sligo Pallets supply 8 varieties of quality pallets including Stamped Euros and certified Kiln dried. The customer overheads are reduced, and also the impact on the environment. Sligo Pallets offer collection and yard clearance service to hauliers, factories, and retailers. This service reduces waste, enables the storage area is cleared weekly, increases efficiency thus reducing costs further.
Sligo Pallets provide a professional service with expert advice to each client individually.
“As long time competitors we are delighted to be able to come on board as sponsor of the Border Rally Championship for 2011” says Andrew Mullen. “The Border Rally Championship is the ideal competition for clubman competitors, thanks to its class based structure. Many competitors are involved in, or have close ties to the haulage and industry sector, and I believe this is an ideal opportunity to promote our business. Additionally we hope we can work with the Border Championship organizers to continue to develop this great series, which in recent years has gone from strength to strength. We hope to include additional prizes and provide value for money rallies for the clubman.”
Chairman of the Border Rally Championship Patsy McIntyre welcomed Sligo Pallets as sponsors of the series. “As long term competitors, it is wonderful to see Andrew and Elaine’s commitment to the sport of rallying in these difficult times. As a championship that takes in events both the Republic and Northern Ireland, the Border series has competitors from all over the country – just as Sligo Pallets does. I believe that with Sligo Pallets on board, the Border Championship will continue to become stronger in 2011. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for the past two years, Henderson Autosport & Spares (HASS), for their support and dedication in promoting the Championship, and wish them every success in the future”.
Now in its 20th year, the 2011 Sligo Pallets Border Rally Championship is a class based championship comprising six events in Mayo, Monaghan, Cavan, Newry, Sligo and Donegal. Open to competitors in each of fifteen classes, the best four scores over the six rounds count towards the final championship positions.
