Its all GO for the Steeltechsheds.com Rallysprint on the 19th September that's next Sunday. Clerk of the Coarse Derek Power along with his committee from the Imokilly Motor Club (IMC) have pulled out all the stops in securing a top class entry for this event.Derek said in these tough times to secure such an entry is fantastic the club put the work in and now we must make sure all things run smooth on the day.
The 2km coarse is sure to test drivers to the limit and there is plenty of room for some really sideways action on the smooth tarmac in the confines of the Corrin Event Centre. There is a huge spectator area where it will be easy to see much of the action. It will be a family friendly day as the action will be non stop with over 80 cars on track 3 times during the day.
This is the IMCs first rally sprint and they have assembled an entry that would do justice to any multi stage rally in Ireland if its rear wheel drive sideways action one is looking for some of the fastest clubmen in Irish Rallying are ready to do battle on this event.
The big battle should be between the two who battled for the win at the Cork Rally Sprint a few weeks ago that time Brian O Keeffe took the win over Brian O Mahoney this time O Mahoney brings out the Clio and it may suit the tight twisty coarse compared to the GpN turbo car of O Keeffe.Irish GpN expert Alan Ring takes a BMW for a spin that could be interesting and the battle of the Starlets should be wild between Paul Mulcahy and Maurice Moffett fresh from a fine 3rd overall on the Wexford rally. If you are a fan of the MK 2 Escort well some of the best are here with the likes of Frank Kelly ,Trevor Mulligan and Brian Lawlor these lads always give 100%.If its high revs then the likes of Damien McCarthy and Jason Ryan are sure to Impress these lads ring the neck out of their Civics and will be close to the front come days end an exciting entry comes in the form of Mike Deane in a 600hp Nissan Skyline (Drift Car).
Also in the bunch are the likes of east Corks Allen Treacy and Mark Dolphin to name but a few yes its going to be a great days motorsport and all happening there in front of the spectator for the day.The action kicks off at around 11.15 with the first of 3 runs.
The club has provided a car park in a field beside the venue and this must be used as the Gardai have said there is no parking on the road and any one doing so will be towed you have been warned !

Entries are steadily coming in for the Steeltechsheds.com Rallysprint on the 19th September there's two weeks to go to the event and things are looking good. The club reports great interest in the event and hope to start a quality field for their first ever Rally Sprint organised by the Imokilly Motor Club.
Clerk of the Course Derek Power said we have been working on this with a while and I have a great team with me the interest is there from the competitors so it should be a good event. The event already has some very quick clubmen in fact some of the quickest in the country.
Just some of the competitors include Brian Lawlor, Frank Kelly in their Escorts and the likes of Maurice Moffett and Damien McCarthy. The local interest will feature club members like Allen Treacy (Corolla) Mark Dolphin (Escort) and Brian O Keeffe fresh from his win in the Cork Rally Sprint with his Gp N Subaru. These are just some of the competitors that will make for an exciting days motorsport at the Corrin Event Centre Rathcormac near Fermoy.
Just to mention that An Garda Síochána have said there is absolutely no parking on the road any where near the event centre so the IMC motor club have secured the use of a field beside the centre for parking please use it or you will be towed !!!!!!!!!!!
If u intend to do the event there is still time to enter and the entry fee represents excellent value for money contact the event secretary - 086 2599896 / +353 86 2599896
For spectators the venue offers great vantage points to see plenty of action . Full report on who is entered for this event and all other details in next weeks report.
Keep up to date with all the news on the club website or on Facebook.

Plans are at an advanced stage for the up coming steeltechsheds.com Rally Sprint organized and promoted by the Imokilly Motor Club (IMC) on Sunday the 19th of September. The event will take place at the Corrin Event Centre Rathcormac Co. Cork.
As Rally Sprints go this will be a super venue offering 100% smooth tarmac with each timed run consisting of 2 laps totalling 2KM. All relevant officials are now in place led by Clerk Of The Course Derek Power. Derek said the venue is fantastic and the lads at the IMC are pulling out all the stops on this one. Interest amongst competitors is high with several already committed. There are some fantastic viewing areas which will be in operation on the day for all those coming along to view the action and the pit area will also be open to the public to roam around freely. Events like these can’t run without the generous support of sponsors and we are very privileged to welcome Steel Tech Sheds in LittleIsland (Cork) on board as our main sponsor.
The Club have tried to make the event as competitor friendly as possible.
Entry fee has been set at €125 for car and driver.
Navigators can be carried at an additional cost of €15. The same navigator must be carried on all runs. One day navigator licenses will be available at an additional cost of €25. These must be booked at least 10 days in advance.
Scrutiny will be on the Sunday morning which will also keep the costs down.
