Prospective customers for the Fiesta SportTrophy Ireland 2010 will get a chance to sample the new Ford Fiesta R2 on Tuesday 19th January 2010. The promotional day takes place at Rally School Ireland, Scotstown, County Monaghan. Prospective customers will have the chance to sit in the co-drivers seat and experience the new car around the Rally School Ireland course. M-Sport's Andrew Wheatley and Fiesta SportTrophy Ireland co-ordinator Callum Craw will be on hand to answer any questions about the new car or the 2010 FST Ireland.

The Fiesta R2 will be eligible to compete in the 2010 Fiesta SportTrophy Ireland and will compete alongside the ultra successful Fiesta ST, which has been the backbone of the championship since it's creation in 2006. Based on the highly successful Fiesta 1.6 Sport, the Fiesta R2 features a naturally aspirated 1.6litre engine. The car is built to the new Group R regulations allowing the designers more freedom than was available with the production class Fiesta ST. This has allowed the use of a 5speed sequential gearbox manufactured by Sadev and four piston AP brake calipers as well as the removal of any non-essential panels and brackets to ensure the car is a step forward from the ST.

Fiesta ST owners and potential customers are also invited to the event, where there will be the chance to demonstrate their ST ahead of the 2010 season. Both the Fiesta R2 and Fiesta ST are eligible for the championship and the prize fund. The prize fund offers over £2500 at every event and is guaranteed to the top 8 finishers in the Fiesta SportTrophy.

The 2010 Fiesta SportTrophy Ireland follows the Irish Tarmac Rally championship. The six single day events will take in the stages used on the first day of the International competition. This gives competitors the chance to learn the daunting Irish stages in a cost effective yet competitive manner. Competitors can choose to enter for both the FST and International rallies and therefore also score Irish Tarmac Championship points. The first round of the 2010 Fiesta SportTrophy Ireland takes place at the Galway International rally on the 5th&7th of February 2010.
