Posted: July 17, 2009 3:41 PM
There will be a rallycar category (The Get Connected! Rallycross Rally Challenge) run as part of rounds six and seven of the 2009 Fuchs Lubricants Rallycross Open Championship at Pembrey on July 25th & 26th.
Damian Cole has already confirmed his entry for the event on both days with his Hyundai Accent WRC and 2008 Chatsworth Rally Show winner - Gary Mcevoy will also be racing in his ex Tommi Makinen Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. The event is televised by ITV Men and Motors.
Regulations are as follows
Rally cars - 2 or 4 wheel drive vehicles complying with the regulations for stage rallies and holding a valid MSA logbook. All vehicles must be registered for the road but need not have Insurance, MOT, or TAX.
The use of racing tyres is permitted. The class may be sub-divided according the number and type of cars entered. All cars must fully comply with all the latest MSA safety requirements.
All competitors require a minimum of a MSA National B licence.
In order to provide Rally drivers with this opportunity to try Rallycross and to minimise the risk of damage to their cars, the Rally car category will be run with cars starting one-at-a-time with a maximum of 8 cars on the track at any one time. The cars will be set off at 8 second intervals - each driver will get the opportunity to take part in practice, 3 heats and a class final on each of the two days.
