Due to an increased number of enquiries from Rally competitors for track time, Mondello Park will be running a Rallycar test day on Saturday July 11th. This test day will take place on the Mondello Park national layout which for anyone unfamiliar with the venue is a 1.2 mile all-tarmac circuit.
Mondello Park test days are split into morning and afternoon sessions and drivers can sign up for either the morning, afternoon or the full day. The day will be run in sessions with groups alternating on track for fifteen minutes at a time. As many sessions as possible will be run in both the morning and afternoon in order to provide as much value for money as possible. Unlike on race car test days drivers will be permitted to carry a single passenger without charge, but any additional passengers will be charged for, must be over eighteen, and will be required to sign an insurance waiver.
Spaces on the test day are limited and therefore pre-booking is advised. The price for a half day testing is €130 while a full day is €230. All drivers must produce a competition licence past or present at sign-on to be allowed to take part.
For drivers looking to make a weekend of it and broaden their motorsport experience, the following day at Mondello Park sees the running of round four of the Irish Time-Attack championship. Most rallycars are eligible for Time-Attack and the single venue, single day, format of the events has made Time-Attack increasingly popular with rally competitors, particularly with the introduction of the 1600cc classes.
Time-Attack is run and promoted by Mondello Park and is an event where, just as with rallying there is no direct wheel to wheel racing as time is the deciding factor. Each competitors’ best lap time in the event final is taken to decide the results and with three practice sessions prior to the final these events offer exceptional value for money.
