David Higgins has signed a deal to continue competing with the Wan You
rally team for the next two years in the Chinese Rally Championship.
The team have celebrated multiple successes with David and his co-driver
Ieuan Thomas since they joined forces three years ago. And with his success in
the championship, it was not only one team which was vying for David's
services this year.
“As well as an offer from Wan You, I was approached by the Hongee rally
team over the winter with an equally good offer,” said David. “Hongee
have supported a Dakar team so it was hard not to look seriously at their
offer. But after a winter of negotiations I have decided to stay with Wan
You until the end of 2010.”
Going into his fourth season with the Wan You team, David's aim will be to
continue the success they have shared in previous years.
“The team have an Evo 10 and the trusty Evo 9,” said David. “We had a
good test a few weeks ago in China and have decided to stick with the Evo 9
for at least the first two events until we are fully happy with the new
car.
“I've spent the last two years in the British championship developing new
cars drivig the Toyota S2000 car and then the new Subaru Impreza N14. I
don't want to compromise my results by doing the same thing again.”
David will run with backing from Hankook tyres in the Chinese championship,
which starts with the Shanghai Rally on 30/31 May.
