What’s New for 2008?
Widely regarded as one of the best autocross locations in the country, Mayo & District’s loose surface autocross will once again take place at Harrington’s Quarry, The Valley, near Swinford. The big news, however, is a totally new track. With an overall length of 2.5 km, it combines fast flowing parts with more twisty and technical sections, and looks set to be a challenging test for competitors. Drivers will compete over three runs of two laps each, giving excellent value for money for the day’s action. The layout of the course and directions to the new entrance to the quarry will be available to view here in a few days.
The Frank Harrington Challenge returns for 2008. Open to all competitors, points are awarded to drivers on each of the four autocross events to be run by Mayo & District Motorsport Club in 2008. Prizes will be presented to the top three points scorers in each class, as well as to first, second and third overall.
Also back for 2008 is the Mayo & District Motorsport Club Young Driver Championship. Open to club members under the age of 30, it offers a cash prize to assist competitors to progress in their motorsport careers.
