Ferodo Driver of the Day
    Fastnet
Given the conditions on the day, all the 2WD men were bound to struggle, and its not often that a FWD car will beat all the RWD experts. However, coming out on top in this battle was Ken O Neill in the Puma kit car. Ken had a big battle all day with Keith Powers similar car, but he came home ahead of all the other 2WD men, and finished a fine 16th overall. Congratulations Ken , you're the Ferodo Driver of the Day!

    Clare
The quickest of todays Gp.N drivers have no problem mixing it with the WRC cars, and so it proved again in Clare.
Usual Gp.N front runner Mike Curran had to take second place this time though, as Colm Murphys Impreza took him to a class win by just 9 seconds, and an excellent 4th overall. Congratulations Colm, you're the Ferodo driver of the day!

The driver of the Day for the Connact Stages rally is the Gp.N winner, Mike Curran. Apparently Mike was under instruction to 'win it or bin it', and he certainly did the former in good style! Mike was an incredible 4th overall after SS1, and he continued this blistering pace all day, holding 5th overall and the Gp.N lead throughout the rally. Mikes first maximum score lifts him to 2nd in the class 4 championship standings. Congratulations, you're the dmrr.net driver of the day!

  • Raven's Rock
Driver of the day for Ravens Rock Stages is Ray Breen. The Kilkenny man claimed his first major rally win, finishing 20 seconds clear of Charlie Donnelly. Ray was on the attack from the word go, and had fought his way into the lead even before Jim Harrisons retirement. Ray has had a great season with 3 4th places and a 3rd to his name, and now leads the National Championship. Well done Ray, you've won a Ferodo prize pack!

  • Circuit of Munster
Given the conditions the drivers had to deal with during the Circuit of Munster, success was all about having the right power to traction ratio!. Peter Cummins made superb use of his unique 1300cc Darrian to finish an excellent 23rd overall, and come home 3rd 2WD finisher, just behind the top 2 litre men. Well done Peter, you're the Ferodo Driver of the Day!

  • Circuit of Kerry Stages Rally.
Willie Fannin was at the forefront of Group N in the National Championship in 2004, and it looks like 2005 will be no different! Class 4 has become probably the most hotly contested of all the classes, with Gabriel Martin, James O Sullivan and Alan Ring, and of course Willie Fannin, all regularly swapping seconds on the stages.

Winning the class by over 30 seconds (A relatively big margin for this class!) in Kerry was Willie Fannin, who had a great drive to finish 7th overall. Indeed by the end, his Gp.N Impreza was just 35 seconds away from Melvyn Evans WRC example! Congratulations Willie, you’ve won a Ferodo prize pack from www.DMRR.net

  • Mayo Stages Rally.

The first round of the Dunlop National Championship saw a return to the rallying scene of some names that had been missing from the National scene over the past few years. Daniel and Michael Doherty put in a great drive to finish 2nd to Jim Harrison, but it was perhaps the drive of Charlie Donnelly that most caught the eye.

Charlie was of course using Eugenes Corolla WRC, a car that would have been relatively unfamiliar to him. Despite not knowing the car so well, and not having competed in the championship for several years, Charlie took an excellent 3rd place, ahead of championship regulars like Ray Breen and Patrick Elliot. Well done Charlie, you’re the DMRR.net driver of the day, and you’ve won a Ferodo prize pack!

Ferodo Bonus Scheme jackpot hits 10,000 Euros!
The Ferodo Bonus Scheme is back for 2005, and this time the prize fund is bigger than ever before! This year, drivers in the Dunlop National Championship can battle it out for a share of the 10,000 Euro prize fund. As was the case last year, the top overall prize will be 2000 Euros, with prizes right down to 200 Euros for 10th place.

New for 2005 is the addition of the Ferodo Prize Draw. Every registered competitor starting each Bonus Scheme counting round will be in the draw for a 100 Euro prize for that event. This will give those competitors who do only a handful of events a year, an extra chance to get a piece of the Ferodo Bonus Scheme fund.

The scheme will again award points on a class basis, allowing every driver, no matter what the car, a chance to grab the big prize. To register, simply purchase a set of front and rear pads from DMRR or one of their agents (Broadside in New Ross, West Limerick Rally Spares in Pallaskenry, and others) fill in an entry form, and place the supplied decals on your car.

Interest has already been expressed by many of last years front runners, including the 2004 winner Willie Fannin, James O Sullivan, and Gabriel Martin. Des Moore, of promoters DMRR, says "Both myself and Ferodo have been delighted at how the scheme has taken off. Last years scheme was a great success, and I'm sure that with the prize fund reaching 10000 Euros, its bound to be even more popular in 2005".

Complete regulations will be available very soon, subject to repeat Motorsport Ireland approval.
