Gwyndaf Evans to compete in Titanic Super Special Stage
Welsh man, Gwyndaf Evans is to compete at the forthcoming Meteor Electrical Titanic Super Special Stage on Sunday 27th February.

Evans, who is no stranger to rallying in Northern Ireland, announced this week that he looked forward to competing at this unique event in Belfast: “I have always enjoyed my rallying in Northern Ireland, not only has the standard of competition always been extremely high but the welcome great. The Titanic Super Special Stage is a unique event and with only rear wheeled drive cars competing it should be a great day out for both drivers and spectators.”

Evans has previously competed in a number of local competitions including the Ulster Rally and Lurgan Park with the Seat Team. Evans spent eight years of his early career as a works driver with Ford and in 1998 joined Seat, however recent years has saw Evans closely linked with M.G.

“I am thrilled that Gwyndaf Evans can join us for this Super Special Stage in Belfast. Gwyndaf fully understands how difficult it can be to get a drive at WRC level so I really appreciate his support”, said Niall McShea, 2004 Production World Rally Champion.

“Not only is Gwyndaf a very capable competitor, but he is a true gentleman. It is great for clubmen in Ireland to have the opportunity to compete against drivers of this calibre in similar cars,” continued Niall.

The Meteor Electrical Super Special Stage is a tribute to Enniskillen man Niall McShea following his recent Production World Rally Champion. Proceeds of the event will contribute to his drive for 2005.

Niall McShea, Jimmy McRae, Billy Coleman and Malcolm Wilson are just some of the drivers that have already signed up for the event"

Niall McShea, the 2004 Production World Rally Car Champion officially launched the Meteor Electrical Titanic Super Special Stage Rally at the Titanic Quarter, Belfast.

The event, taking place on Sunday 27th February, will attract the cream of Ireland’s rear wheel drive cars and drivers and is a celebration of Niall McShea’s success in winning the 2004 Production World Rally Car Championship. Proceeds of this Meteor Electrical Titanic Super Special Stage Rally will contribute in no small way to helping Niall in his bid for a top line drive for 2005.
For the first time in Northern Ireland, rally cars will compete head to head around a specially designed mile and three quarter stage. Spectators will be thrilled by the breathtaking skill of up to 70 of Ireland’s own clubmen racing against champions of past and present.

Launching the Super Special Stage Niall McShea said: “I am very excited about the Event and grateful for the support from everyone involved. It’s great to see such a quality line up with the best clubmen and machinery in Ireland coming to support it.”

Sponsor, John Conway of Meteor Electrical explained that he was pleased to be associated with the Event: “Having seen how hard Niall has worked over the past few years to achieve his 2004 Production World Title, Meteor Electrical are proud to support both this event and Niall in his attempt to secure a seat at World Rally Championship level in 2005.”

Event promoter, Damian Fleming of Schism said that the response already has been tremendous: “Jimmy McRae, Billy Coleman and Malcolm Wilson are just some of the drivers that have already signed up for the event in February.”

“The mile and three quarter purpose built Special Stage winds its way around the 14 acre site in the Titanic Quarter just next to the Odyssey and features a cross over bridge and lots of tight corners for plenty of sideways action,” he continued.

The Meteor Electrical Titanic Super Special Stage Rally promises to be a great day out for all the family, with the thrill of the rear wheeled drive cars and a fun fair to entertain kids of all ages.

This Event is sponsored by Meteor Electrical, the Northern Ireland Events Company, Auto Trader, KDM Hire, Titanic Quarter and is hosted by the Ulster Automobile Club and Schism Events.

The Event, which also features a fun fair, takes place on 27th February 2004 at the Titanic Quarter, Belfast with head to head action around the specially constructed mile and three quarter circuit.

Launching the Meteor Electrical Titanic Super Special Stage Rally is Vicki Smyth, Titanic Quarter; John Conway, Meteor Electrical; Niall McShea, 2004 Production World Rally Champion and Damian Fleming of Schism Events.
