Cooper from Louth & Foley from Ardsallagh, Navan go head to head for Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
Michael Cooper Rallying 4 Charity campaign takes on Navan’s best in Aer Lingus Stages Rally this coming weekend. Although good buddies most days, Michael & James will take the gloves off this time to fight for Group N honours.

Posted: August 17, 2004 10:37 PM

Aer Lingus will be running their annual Stages Rally in the Cormeen & Moynalty area on Sunday 22nd August, allowing the production Saloon boys to go head to head. Louth versus Meath it certainly will be. Foley, just back from the Isle of Man “Manx” says the quickest man will win. Cooper advises him, that to finish First, First Foley will have to finish.

Although James & Anne Foley have been supporting Michael Cooper throughout the year with his Campaign to raise €15,000 for Temple Street Hospital, this is a local event & competition between the pair will be fierce. Navigating Cooper will be transport man Roy Cooney from Ardcath.

Aer Lingus Motor Club will be running three stages three times in North County Meath on Sunday 22nd. 130 cars from all over the Island are expected to take part. Competition in all classes will be hard fought. The Rally is sponsored and based out of the Lakeside Manor Hotel near Virginia.

Patrick Elliot & Tim Mc Nulty are likely to have a right old ding dong of a battle for outright honours as Patrick is due an overall win close to his home territory. Tim is of course no walk over looking to hold on to last year’s win. Local Pilot Paddy White will keep them on their toes in his new Subaru WRC, chapping at their heels for overall victory. Maurice Gass and Local Navigator Andrew Cullen also Supporters of Rally 4 Charity will not let the pack get away from them.

Clerk of the Course Ian O’ Flynn says all’s fair in tar and war…may the best man win.

Details of the Rally are on www.almc.ie and programmes and maps are available in Kells, Moynalty Virginia and directly from The Lakeside Manor Hotel in Virginia.

Update
With your kind encouragement and generosity, and your willingness to donate per event, we have managed to raise much needed funds for “Temple Street Children’s Hospital”.

Unfortunately, due to the serious over-subscriptions in rallying this year, and in recent years, the “Rally 4 Charity” car never managed to get running in Monaghan and Cavan. However, we did take part in Midland, Carlow and Raven’s Rock. And we’re off again, this time to Tipperary to participate in “Stonethrowers Rally” on August 8th. Thereafter, we’ll be heading to the wilds of Co. Meath to compete in “ALMC Multi-Stage Rally” on August 22nd 2004.

At this point in time we have donated €9,550.00 to Temple Street Children’s Hospital. The funds raised by your big-heartedness are going towards the redevelopment of the Tertiary Kidney Care Unit in Temple Street. This unit provides care for children from all over the country, with a variety of kidney conditions including those waiting for transplantation or the long term care required after transplantation. This unit also provides all forms of dialysis and is the National Centre for haemodialysis. The children of Temple Street applaud you and your selflessness……………..

With further pledges still to be received over the next couple of months we really hope that we can do a “little bit more” for these cherished children.

A Big Thank You……..

Rally for Charity visits Waterford to compete & collect for Temple Street Rally for Charity visits Waterford “On Target to Reach Our Goal of €15,000”

In the winter months of 2002, Rally 4 Charity was set up to raise funds for Temple Street Children’s Hospital and other Charities. Michael Cooper (driver), Martin Brady (navigator) and Sean Walsh (a man with connections!) found a way to pay for the newly acquired GrpN Subaru Impreza, the name of the game, take part in Rallies & raise much-needed funds for the Kidney Unit of Temple Street University Hospital. Cooper was to fund and run the Scooby entirely from his own resources. Funds raised from Donations would go directly to the Hospital.

2004 comes around quite quickly. January this year and a few ALMC members offered to get involved in the fund raising. The plan is to take part in 6 or 7 events, loosely organised around the ALMC Bonus Scheme events.

Letters have been written, pledges have been very gratefully received, but more are needed. €4100 has been collected to date, with thanks to the Midland MOTO Rally and the Carlow Stages Rally. A further €3000 has been collected since the Carlow Rally. So here we go again, Ravens’ Rock Rally is our third event, this time with ALMC COC Ian O’ Flynn navigating(?) God help us!

Rally 4 Charity want to make a difference to sick children’s lives again this year. This year the goal is to raise €15,000 for this vital cause. We intend participating in the following Rallies this year: 8th August Tipperary Stonethrower’s Rally

22nd August ALMC Stages Rally. THE BIG EVENT !

Usually we willingly donate as a result of a tragedy on our own back door. This campaign seeks donations to ease other people’s misfortunes. Your money will go directly to Temple Street, in return for advertisement on Mickey’s car, the Rally Programme and media exposure, where possible. It’s all about raising the profile of sick children and indeed the kindness of our Motorsport people. Please help us help these sick children on to a better quality of life ………….

HOW MUCH?? Any amount you can reasonably afford per event, or on a once off donation basis. Can you please help us help these sick children? CHECK OUT OUR PROGRESS ON >www.almc.ie

Rallying for the Children, we need your help
[Background information, article from Midland Moto Stages Rally Programme]

It started as most Rally projects, over a few (!) pints at the local. Two lads, Mick Cooper & Martin Brady dreaming about what to do for the next season. Mickey the driver and Martin the Navi were joined by a third party. Sean Walsh, a man with connections, and indeed two more pints.

Letters have been written, pledges have been very gratefully received, more are needed. So here we go then, Midland MOTO is our first event.
