It is a deserved award for the Young Cork man outlined Ivan Fisher one of the trustees of the Foundation ‘‘ We are delighted John Foley Jnr. has won this years award to attend the John Haugland Winter Rally School in Norway’’.
This is the second year of The Fisher Foundation Awards and this years decision was very difficult, explained Ivan, ‘‘The response for the award both in quantity and quality was excellent, we were very impressed with John’s sponsorship and PR package and above all his high level of motivation for the coming season and beyond, we have no doubt he will be a great ambassador for The Fisher Foundation and Irish Motorsport’’.
The Young Driver Safety Scholarship Award is valued at over £7,500 and covers John’s flights, ferry costs, accommodation, and associated car hire costs for the practical training period of the course. The John Haugland Winter Rally School located in Geilo 150 miles south of Oslo also provides classroom tuition, designed to raise the drivers safety awareness and develop safe driving skills.
A real end of year boost according to this year’s successful recipient John Foley "I am over the moon with winning this award. To be associated with the
Fisher Foundation and to be selected as the winner from a high standard of
young drivers is a perfect end to a great season’’
A clearly delighted John explained ‘‘I hope that the prize can help broaden my driving skills and help me progress safely in the sport. I would like to thank the Fisher Foundation, ASA Marketing Group and everybody who has helped me during the year especially my navigator Jonathan Waterman. I'm looking forward to being more successful in 2004."
