The emphasis will be very much on having fun this Sunday (21 July), when Natalie Barratt contests the Punchestown Rally Experience in a Motor Sports Development-run Hyundai Accent WRC².

It will be the first time a Hyundai Accent WRC has competed in Ireland, and it is the same Michelin-shod car that Natalie drove on the Acropolis Rally in Greece recently. This time it will be prepared to full works asphalt specification, ideal for the Punchestown Racecourse venue in Naas, County Kildare, just outside Dublin, which hosts the event.

Natalie is one of only 40 drivers contesting the 2002 Punchestown Rally Experience, as it is an invitation-only event.

After the disappointment of three retirements in three outings with the Hyundai, Natalie plans to let her hair down in Punchestown, entertain the large crowd and have some fun behind the steering wheel. Having contested the Donegal International Rally several times, Natalie is no stranger to the famous craic enjoyed in Irish rallying.

Natalie said: "I'm just looking forward to driving the Hyundai WRCar and simply enjoy contesting a rally again. I've had an awful run of bad luck recently and the last couple of World Championship events in particular haven't been as enjoyable as they should have been. I've also got a lot of friends in Ireland and this is a fantastic excuse to spend a weekend in Dublin and enjoy the craic."
