Galway Motor Club has decided with regret to cancel the West 2000 International Rally scheduled for the 22/23rd July.

This decision has been forced on the club by logistical and financial factors which make it impossible to run the type of event which we planned and consider appropriate in the present circumstances.
Commenting, on hearing of the decision, Cecil Sparks, Chairperson of Motorsport Ireland, said he very much regretted the cancellation of the rally and promised that Motorsport Ireland would support in whatever way possible Galway Motor Club's efforts to reinstate the event in 2001.
The club has applied for it’s traditional February date in 2001.
