Greetings from the Irish Rally Competitors Association (I.R.C.A) in 2000

The I.R.C.A. was set up three years ago in response to a growing feeling amoung competitors that their voices where not being heard on a number of important issues within Irish Rallying, afterall the competitors do form a very important part of the sport and do deserve to be heard.

In trying to place the Association on a firm footing with all of the bodies in motorsport; it's own members, Motorsport Ireland and the organising clubs, the committee have worked to those ends and has often battled against harsh criticism from all quarters, but has never the less achieved quite a lot for the improvement of OUR sport,

Examples being:

  • The splitting into two of class 10 & 11 for 8 & 16 valves cars;
  • The non cashing of entry cheques unto the closing of entries, which is now in the green book;
  • We are making representation for the standardisation of timecards, improved and consistant scrutiny,
  • Timing of stages, safety issues such as fuel carriage and fireproofing;
  • The running of extra single stage events with pace notes;
  • The inclusion of non-homologated cars to be allowed to compete in internationals,(all be it not as championship contenders).

    There are many more issues that the I.R.C.A. has been, there, voicing the competitor's side on and we do feel that we are, now, making an impression....But there are many more.

    Now we have set up many contacts
