Fresh from his outstanding return to Irish Rallying on the Donegal International Rally Shaun Gallagher received a major boost this week when Motorsport Ireland and the Irish Sports Council awarded him a grant for €7,500.

Sammy Hammill of the Belfast Telegraph carries the news today that Current Northern and Southern Forestry Rally Champion Kevin Lynch has been forced to take a break from Rallying because of a recurring back injury, aggravated when he hit a wall on the Raven's Rock rally.

Promax Motorsport Ireland is now open in Cullen, Mallow, Co. Cork. Dillwyn and Phil of the very successful Promax UK have got together with Ex Pitlane/Pirelli boss Philip Johnston to set up this new enterprise. Promax have been building and running rally cars in the UK for nearly 15 years, which has become a huge business and see the potential Ireland holds.

George Tracey buys Peugeot 307 WRC Rallycross car

George Tracey has just completed a deal with Peugeot Sport in France to acquire a factory Peugeot 307 WRC Rallycross car. The ex test car will come complete with a works spec Peugeot engine. George and his team will be sourcing suspension & gearbox independently for the car.

Age limit for Grass Autocross Reduced

The Motor Sport Commission has approved a reduction in the age at which a Speed licence valid for Autocross (grass surface only) may be issued. With immediate effect, drivers aged 14 or 15 may drive Saloon cars up to 1400 cc, with two wheel drive only, in these events.
