Fresh from his outstanding return to Irish Rallying on the Donegal International Rally Shaun Gallagher received a major boost this week when Motorsport Ireland and the Irish Sports Council awarded him a grant for €7,500.

The funding is part of a Stranding Scheme, which recognised his achievements during
2004. Drivers had to meet specific criteria set out by Motorsport Ireland and Shaun
became eligible following his exceptional results against some of Europe’s stiffest
competition in the French Peugeot 206 Cup. The Donegal driver is also the only rally
driver in the country to be selected under the scheme.
“I am really delighted,” commented Shaun. “We were forced to cut our 2004 season
short due to lack of funding so its great to have our achievements recognised in
this way.”
